Has anyone else booked while still on the cruise. We booked for August 7, 2004 and got $400 on board credit we were told even if we went thru a travel agent we would get this credit. Now when I try to change the reservation to an agent I am told I cannot get the credit. Anyone else have information on why this is occuring or had experience in changing the reservation once it is booked with Disney. Any advice is appreciated...

Sorry no information to help you with your query but just to let you know there is already a group of us going on the same cruise. We have a thread started which I will try and find for you - we would be delighted for you to come and join us! Somebody there may be able to help you.

I'm sort of bummed about this. I already made a reservation for one of these cruises that have the $400, and in 4 weeks I will be on board the Wonder. I had 'thought' about canceling my current reservation and then booking onboard, but I hate to do that because I like the room we have, and I have already put down a lot of money for it (made payments towards it in addition to the down payment that is required).

I'm not sure what to do.

westjones,
why not rebook on the cruise and cancel whichever one you do not want when you get back from the cruise. There is no penalty this far out it is next year. The $400 is only for special dates and they will offer them to you while you are on the cruise. I found a cheaper deal thru MouseEars Vacations at least $600 cheaper than the $400 onboard credit offer so do not loose hope of getting a better deal.

Wow!! We just booked our cruise for the same time and were also told we could transfer our booking to a travel agent AND still keep our shipboard credit ( we havent done it yet, as I like to have control of my ressies until I have everything just the way I want it, then transfer to AAA). I sure hope the person you spoke with is incorrect, I spoke with three diff DCL people and all three said we COULD transfer.. did they make a sudden change in policy? YIKES!!!

Transfering your reservation over to a Travel Agent will not make you lose your shipboard credit.

DCL is correct--you just need to fax a form asking that they transfer your reservation over to the TA of your choice.

Dj...Westjones...Why don't you cancel and rebook on the cruise. If she cancels and rebooks you, you should be able to get the same room, if she does it immediately.

My reservation with with Dreams Unlimited; would I be able to cancel it on the cruise and immediately rebook it and have it turned back over to DU?

I thought about talking to the person at the booking desk to see what we could do. I have one of the secret porthole rooms booked, and for us this is a REAL treat because we have always cruised in Cat. 11s before. So I would want that same room booked.

I guess I will ask them when we get on board to see what can be done. It doesn't hurt to ask. Sure would hate to miss out on a $400 credit since we are planning to go on one of those cruises anyway.

That I can't answer you. Why don't you call Dreams and ask them before you cruise.. Maybe they can cancel it right before you leave and then put a 7 day hold on the room, then you can switch it back to them when you get back. Does that make any sense??? LOL

I rebooked onboard for Oct. 2, 2004 and received $400 onboard credit. When I was booking, the agent noticed that I had used AAA for the cruise that I was on and asked if I wanted to transfer the booking to AAA. So, I would assume that you would not loose anything in transferring to booking.

That Oct. 2, 2004 cruise is stopping in Antigua instead of St. Marten. New island and $400...what a deal.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I contacted Dreams Unlimited and I guess they had just handled this same situation with another client. And it worked fine. I am going to book a 'second' room while on board and get the $400 credit. Then when I return, DU will cancel my old reservation and switch my room (the one I currently have and want to keep) over to my new reservation.

It should all work out fine. Thanks everyone for the advice! And thanks to whomever let us know about this $400 on board credit in the first place. If I didn't know ahead of time what was going on and had a chance to talk it over with DU on how to handle it, I would have missed out on $400!
