Which is better the 40% or Free Dining. We plan on going in September. We got the 40% off email (two actually) but I wonder if Free Dining is the better deal. We will stay at a value resort. Any thoughts???

I guess it would depend on the resort at which you are staying. I always figure things like that up before I call and book. I book through AAA and figure out my price usually within about $5 to make sure that I am getting the best deal. I also then know that the ressies are made correctly.
If you are staying at a more expensive deluxe resort, you might be better off with the code. If you are staying value, you are better off with the dining.

I think it really depends on how many are in your party to determine where you're going to get the most bang for your buck. But if you're going to use the 40% off to stay at a Value and there are at least 2 of you going, then the Free Dining would probably be best in that situation. Say you're paying $100/night for Pop, that's $40 off, while the cheapest dining package starts at about $30/day per person.

A really important thing to factor in is do you get dining if it's not free?

That the "free dining" offer will likely be tied to the class of resort -
i read something speculating that the values and mods would get the QUICK SERVICE plan free, and that only those staying in the Deluxe resorts will get the regular dining plan as we have had in past years.

If it were me, I would book on the 40% off before it expires, and if free dining turns out to be a better deal when it is released, then change!

We booked 7 nights at AKL for December at 40% off, but I WILL continue to watch for better deals. Who knows what they might offer if our economy keeps sinking?:scared:

So far it is pure rumor. This was indeed what the UK free dining promo offered. But the bounceback free diners from last year(for free dining 2009) were given the Basic dp for free at all resort levels. Will they tier it for the general public? possibly. But alot is still unknown. We should Know more in the next few weeks.

We recently booked 10 nights at ASMu at the AAA rate. Then we got a 40% off code so we upgraded to POFQ. Our dates are mid Sept. so we should be there during a Free Dining period. I'm trying to decide what we will do if it is offered.

We will not pay for the DDP. We will not pay rack rate at POFQ to get DDP for free. My tentative plan is to do a split stay. (Something I thought I would never do.) Keep my great rate at my favorite resort for 5 nights and switch to a value resort for 5 nights of free dining.

I know you disers will understand. I want to be prepared when the offer is announced.
