I have seen posted on this forum where guest have rec'd a 40%off room rate for Deluxe Resorts in Aug.2010. My question is this - How do they take the 40% off? Now I know they do not always offer this discount, but assuming they do for Aug,2011 I would like to know how they do the calculation.

I believe it's pretty much off the rack room rate before taxes are added. I could be wrong so hopefully some one else will chime in.

So for example if the rack rate is $330/night after the discount it would drop down to $330-132.00=198.00 a night.

Guess I don't understand the question. It's 40% off. What do you mean by 'how?'

We received the 40% off PIN code this year (via e-mail) and this is how it worked for us.

Our pre-tax nightly room rate before any discounts was $425/night. With the 40% off the pre-tax nightly room rate dropped to $255/night. Adding the 12.5% tax brought the nightly room rate to $286.87 (* 6 nights for a total of $1,721.22). I called to make the reservation with the PIN; I didn't do it online (because I didn't know how).

Later we decided to go with a package - when I called to add tickets and dining those portions of the package were add at full cost but the room rate was still discounted 40%.
