No - DVC members do not get any discount on the Disney Dining Plan. They do not get free dining even when it is offered to those who buy a MYW package. DVC members can add the DDP to a points reservations, but must pay the current price ofr it.

Perhaps someone mentioned that if you rent points from a DVC member, you could save 40% compared to paying rack rates.

Or perhaps someone was thinking of an AP discounted room. Sometimes, CRO offers AP discounts that are 40% off rack rates.

But no discounts on the DDP for DVC members or their guests.

It also could be that someone read reports of being able to save 40% off restaurant tabs using DDP. Many have reported savings like that.
