4 Yes 3 No at Sci Fi

I have been trying to get an ADR at Sci Fi for next month for our party of three. I just checked but accidently put in 4 instead of three guest. Poof - there is an available ADR. So I go back and put in party of 3 = no ADR. I went back again and put in party of 4 and there was an ADR.


What gives?

I didn't make the ressie for 4...or should I? That doesn't seem right!

I would call to make the ADR. If they so no availablility, see what they say when you mention that 4 are available. If they won't do it, I would go ahead and make the ADR for 4 people since you are not required to put a credit card hold at Sci Fi.

Make and keep the ADR for 4. There are still many restaurants that have issues with odd numbers like this and this has been the CM supported and suggested workaround for years. (Really, I've known about this since my 2009 trip...) Since a party of 3 and a party of 4 would share the same size table, you aren't pulling a spot from someone else. If they ask at the podium, just say it ended up being only 3 .

Go ahead and take the res for 4, then when you get to Sci Fi let them know there are only 3 of you.

There's a quirk in the computer system where it "prefers" even number parties. The system wants to fill as many seats as possible, so when it finds a table for 4 it wants to fill it with 4 people so it will ignore your party of 3. We're a party of 3 and have had that happen many times. At some point it will accept odd numbered parties, but I've never figured out when that starts to happen so I just take the res for 4 since you'll almost be seated at a 4 top anyway. There are very few 3 tops in any of the restaurants.

I should've. I should've. I got interrupted and within 10 min the ADR was gone. I should've just booked it. ARGH!!!
