We'll be arriving 4 weeks from tonight. We plan to hang around the resort all day and relax on Thursday the 14th. Any suggestions on things we have to see? Which of the restaurants is a must? I have a 13, 10, and 3 year old with the wife and myself. Thanks

We will be there next week. We like to go to Bomo's in the AKL for the dinner. We think its one of the best disney has to offer.

With your children's ages...I would recommend the dinner or the breakfast buffet at Boma...(do both if possible)....your older kids should love the arcade...your 3 year old will love the evening story time...
They have a special viewing of the animals at nite...(utilizing night vision goggles)...can be a bit of a wait...but worth it once...the pool is awesome....okay slide...the pool is open 24 hours a day...the slide closes when the lifeguard goes off duty...(8pm during off season...maybe 9pm)....There are hot tubs available...
Viewing of the animals is awesome....your kids.....and YOU will have a great time at the AKL :bounce:

PS....request a couple of "hidden Mickey" sheets from the front desk...your kids will have a great time scouting these out...all around the resort !!!

ENJOY :bounce: :bounce:

We are also arriving onthe 13th, earlier and earlier as American has changed the flight on us 3 times already. Much better since I told the kids that they can go to the pool while we unpack, then get something to eat. Right now we are scheduled to arrive at 6:30PM, then take Tiffany Town Car. I am not in the mood for Mears and be waiting for other people to be dropped off at their respective hotels.

We are doing a Deluxe Savanna View Dream Maker with Silver Add on.

Hope to see you there. My daughter was there last year and loved the food.

Have fun.

I'm very interested in staying at this resort(not for another 530 days, but who's counting...)
I wanna hear all about it! Have you stayed at AKL before or is this your first time? Have you gone on the sunrise safari?

thanks!

This will be our first stay. We haven't been to a Disney resort in 10 years. We have been doing timeshare rentals and have been very happy with them (more room, less money). I got another TS rental for this year but when I booked the flights I needed rooms for another 2 days. Then I get a flier from Disney saying they are running a special for their deluxe resorts. I called and we're heading to the AKL for two nights. I'm looking forward to it. It looks like a neat place.

Be sure to get a list of the activities scheduled for the resort during your stay. My 8 year old niece played Animal Pictionary in the Sunset Savannah Lounge and was rewarded with beads. We just enjoyed sitting on our balcony or beds and watching the animals.

They also had a few pool games going.

There is a playground, too.

If you have girls, there is a nice gift shop, with charm bracelets and necklaces, and some very reasonably priced charms.

Take time to talk to some of the cast members--they are wonderful!

Hi. We're just back from 5 glorious nights at AKL.

I just wanted to add that there's really excellent animal viewing from the outdoor staircases at both ends of the lodge. Walk out to the end of both Zebra and Kudu Trails and go down (or up!) the staircases. While we were there, the Arusha Savannah kids were called into the barn around noon, so they start congregating near the gate area an hour or so before. This area is prime viewing between 11 am and noon and can been seen really well from the outdoor staircase at the end of Zebra Trail. Later in the afternoon, scads of (different species of) animals are hanging out near the end of the Kudu Trail, on both the Sunset and Arusha Savannahs.

One reason these staircases afford such great views is that you can stand 1/2-flight further downstairs than even a 2nd floor room. Also you can see 2 savannahs from the stairs.

My dh & I actually know the difference between a gemsbok and a blesbok now!

Enjoy your stay. AKL is just superb.

Hi,

I noticed one of the posters on this thread said the pool was open 24hours - but the slide closed when life guards were not there.

When I stayed at AKL the pool was only open till 10pm... we were all asked to get out a couple of times when we were in past 10. The hot tubs were 24 hours though,

Perhaps it has changed since I was there?

Have a great trip.. wont be long now!
