4 Snacks = 1 CS @ Main Str Bakery

The cashier explained to the guests in front of us that 4 snack items could count as 1 counter service credit if the items were bought before noon.

We were low on snack credits and had an abundance of CS so we went that route on a couple of days. It worked really well for us as DH and I each had a juice & pastry one day, and the other day I had chocolate croissant and french toast (more like a bread pudding - yum!!) and paid OOP for juice. :woohoo:

This may be particular to MK's Main Str Bakery, which is fab, so I thought I'd pass the tip along as I hadn't read about it yet. At Kusafiri in AK, we informed the cashier that we would like to do this before we ordered and she just ran it up as snack credits. I would have preferred it if she told us they didn't offer that upfront as we carried around one juice that we wouldn't have ordered otherwise.

Final caveat...this was on the 2007 DDP - hope this isn't another thing that's changed for 2008! (As it stands we won't be doing the DDP in 2008)

cheers,

i thought we did this once in 2007 but it was only 3. I wonder if anyone else tried to do this in 2008

I'm not sure this was unique to MSB. On our final day at CBR's food court we were given a similar option: CS credit used for bakery item, fruit and beverage or something like that. I could have even gotten a fruit/cheese platter and a drink and bakery item (kind of entry, bev and dessert). This was in the grab and go section. I would think this kind of "purchase" would be allowed in grab and go and bakery type places.

As for 4 items vs 3 I think the key was before noon ie. breakfast. On the dining plans you get two beverages for breakfast and perhaps they count two bakery items as an entree. Whatever the case Main St Bakery has some really good food. It took us a couple of days to finish a slice of carrot cake and our basil Mozzerella sandwich was really good.

We asked at Main Street Bakery and were told no we could not convert a CS to a Snack a sandwich must be included. This was in Decemeber 2007.

:)

I don't really think this is a CS to Snack conversion issue, it's just a matter of what food items you are allowed to order with a CS credit. Unfortunately, the answer to that question is very inconsistent and largely depends on what cashier you get. In all the times we've used credits (both snack and CS) at Main St. Bakery we have never been told you could get any 4 items for a single CS credit, so now we have a new experience to add to the inconsistency and confusion ;). We've always been allowed to get three items - two food items and a drink - with a CS credit. The inconsistency has come on which food items they will allow you to get. There have been times we were able to get two pastry/sweet items and a drink. Other times we were told we had to have a sandwich (ham & cheese croissant or one of their lunch sandwiches) to go along with a sweet item and a drink in order to qualify to use a CS credit.

So, my best advice is to walk up to a cashier before you order, tell them you want to use a CS credit, ask them what you can get for that CS credit, and then make sure you have that cashier ring you up. As Mr. Gump would say, your MSB experience will be like a box of chocolates........you never know what you are gonna get. We made the mistake of assuming that our expeirence from the previous day would hold true the next, got our items and went to the register assuming we'd be able to use CS credits, only to have to use up a ton of snack credits because we didn't have sandwiches and were told we couldn't use CS credits.

Our MSB experience from Dec 07---

We were allowed to use a CS credit for 1 sandwich, 1 pastry and 1 drink OR 3 pastries and 1 drink. We did this two days in a row for breakfast. I loved this option so I hope it hasn't changed!!!!!

Anyone have any 08 experiences?

See, we would have loved to have had your cashier. When we were there in early Dec we wanted to get 2 pastries and a drink for a CS credit and were told no......it had to be a sandwich, a pastry, and a drink.

Again, short of asking a cashier before you order there is no way to be sure what you will be allowed at MSB. And unless something has changed, what you will get will depend on the particular cashier you ask.

I think the key is what time of day makes a difference. For breakfast it is the two pastries and lunch is the sandwich option.

Can anyone confirm this?

The cashier who told us about this was very clear it had to be before noon.

This cashier explained it very thoroughly to the group ahead of us, who had 3 trays stacked with food. She even organized their food on the different trays so she could ring the 4 snacks in as a CS. We waited and watched the whole thing which is why I am so clear on this. The cashier (sandy blonde french braided hair, middle aged) really knew her stuff.

cheers,
