New Rumor, I was on my bus ride back to Saratoga Springs from the Magic Kingdom during my first trip home the week of Mark 18th. The bus driver just started talking up a storm about both. He stated the work at the Contemporary was definitely a new DVC and would be called the Contemporay DVC Suites. He also threw out a plan to build a 4 seasons hotel and limited number of private homes in conjunction with that over by fort wilderness. More fuel to fire! :confused3

The partnership between the Four Seasons and Disney will be built on the Eagle Pines site. This has been formally announced (about 2 weeks ago...maybe a bit more). The Contemporary is still a rumor, though looking stronger all the time...

Today the cashier at SSR told me the contemporary is definitely the next dvc resort and they have already begun tearing down some area of the contemporary to begin construction. I think she said north wing but I am not sure.

I wonder if this is true. Maybe AKV is selling so fast they are going to go ahead with the contemporary.

The north wing of the Cont. is already gone but no formal announcement has been made as to what will be built there. I know I'm hoping for a DVC!

On March 21st, DD and I went parasailing at CR. One of the guys on the boat said they were "definitely" building a Contemporary DVC. In fact, he said "they are going to make it 15 stories because they have already sold the first 7 floors!" I tried really hard not to laugh!!!!

If the Contemporary has not been officially announced as the next DVC Resort, how could 7 floors out of the 15 already been sold? I am no lawyer here but isn't that illegal because not everyone got a fair chance to purchase over there?

In March a CM (Epcot) told me during our conversation that CR was a definate for the next DVC. Hmmm:thumbsup2

WOW with all the new and MAYBE new DVC resorts to be built and Hotels  don't you think the parks will just get more crowded.

Well maybe they can just do a timeshare use of the parks too.:lmao:

You know , if you stay at Epcot resorts you can use MGM and Epcot on MON/WED/FRI and AK and MK on Tues amd Thurs and on the wkends you can only go to 1 park before its full (so get there early.):rotfl:

AFAIK, neither FL nor the US has granted the general public a right to a "fair chance to purchase" a timeshare, and I don't recall any such right (to purchase any future DVC resorts) in the documents we signed when we purchased the BWV - so no contractual right, either.

FWIW, I do not think that "one of the guys on the boat" is a very good source, so I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it (if you were, LOL).

The "fairness statutes" as decided by the US Supreme Court (in the case of) International Fool Inc., Et Als vs Vulgaris Scientia
clearly stated - will only apply to the 8th floor and above in any such project.

The Sammie Duvall folks have been saying that since last October!

with DVC you don't HAVE to go to each park every time.

at BWV & BCV just do Epcot and Studios.

at AKL resort - just do AK (okay maybe MK)

at CRV (when and if) - just do MK and Epcot (monrail)....

at OKW and SSR do what ever you feel like - or nothing.

you WILL be back - for at least 34 years if not longer.

Hence, why the OP was holding back her laughter. :)

It would be illegal, though not because of "fairness". You can't sell timeshares until a certain % of construction has been completed.

Rest assured, not a single, solitary CRV point has been sold yet. Just another instance of someone talking from their posterior a la Ace Ventura.

Exactly! Do you honestly think they could sell CRV points and no one on the DIS DVC boards know about it? NEVER!!!!

Took a photo of the construction site last week but don't know how to post it. It's 3MB.

You need to upload it to a website that allows photo exports, like photobucket. Then, using the url of the photo, insert the url using this icon

Just a thought that could allow for the 7 floors thing to be valid...if the new building was to be part DVC and part standard resort, would not the building owned by Disney and floors sold/leased to DVD/DVC, or vice versa?
