Currently waiting for our room at Boardwalk that was not ready at 4. Checked with the front desk and the room hasn't been cleaned yet. If I get charged for leaving late shouldn't I get something for my room not being ready on time?

We did not get our room upon 4 p.m. check in at another Disney resort. We had to wait until 5:30! but were compensated with $200 credit at the resort. I don't like it, but I'm hearing this has become the norm.

I hope the outsourced service pays the $200, not from our dues. Either way its kind of stupid, that $200 could cover many hours of cleaning service so no one would have to wait.

DVC has contracted with a 3rd party to do housekeeping, service has suffered with this change. I hope you get your unit soon.

2 beers and a margarita later the room is ready. Time to stop complaining and head to Epcot for food and drink. All is good now. Well except for everyone else suffering for a the housekeeping changes. I'll just have to expect less next trip. Unfortunately that seems to be a pattern. Not that we will stop coming back!

Isn't that for that for Disney, not DVC?
I thought DVC contracts with Disney Resorts for housekeeping. I can find nothing that indicates housekeeping for any Disney resort is outsourced. DVC or otherwise.

I can't imagine that the union would allow contracted housekeepers. Earlier this year they were still Disney employees and Disney has announced an improvement program for all resort housekeepers which includes DVC.

Not as far as I've heard. Housekeepers are still Disney employees.

They were supposedly going to bring in consultants to "clean up" the housekeeping but that either has fallen by the wayside or hasn't happened yet. Instead they are doing room gifts for some people. It was not about bringing in an outside company to take over housekeeping though - just to fix procedures.

BCV and BLT are where I know we'll almost certainly get our room after 4.

FWIW, I suspect that the reason most of the rooms ready after 4 pm are caused by guests staying beyond the 11 am check out time or guests who really leave a BIG MESS behind. It probably happens more than we think - I've seen a few of those types of messes walking down the hall and am so glad it's not my job to clean them up!!

Toured a GV at BWV as guests were checking out at 11:50. We have never seen such a mess, food left on tables, counters, in the fridge, dirty dishes piled up, strollers and clothes left behind, blow up mattresses left behind, crap everywhere and the housekeeper was on her own, said that it would take 4 hours to clean and she had other rooms too.

The delays aren't just caused by guests leaving late, Disney under staffs the position on purpose and only now are they doing something about it.

I miss understood the earlier info on house keeping, I thought it was to replace the current mess, not just let some other eyes look it over. I hope they have better eye siI agree Carol, especially with the increase in rental activity.

We received our text at 12:30 that our BLT room was ready this past March. This will probably jinx myself, but I have never had a problem getting into our room by 3:30 at the latest at BLT.
