4-Night Wonder Cruisers: FREEPORT Stop Will Continue

I definately see what you mean Kathy. I suppose that these boards are good for venting too! I know I did when I first heard about our Freeport stop.

We booked with excellent early booking rates for our 4-day. When I first heard about our new Freeport stop, I emailed DCL right away, saying that since they changed the itenerary (which is entirely within their right....) that I thought they should let us change to the following week at the same rate that we have already booked and paid in full. ( Otherwise, to cancel and re-book, our rate would now jump from $459.00pp to $629.00 per person.) This is definately one situation where the folks who booked and paid early are the ones who are getting the short end of the deal.... Ohhh yeah, haven't heard back from DCL on that one!

I know we are going to cancel. DCL needs to pay attention to their customers. People like the 4 day because that last day is a day at sea. I remember when they added Freeport I was glad it was after we cruised. I was shocked today when our TA told us our day at sea had changed. I know we are booking with another line, which one is undecided. It probably will just be me and Dave since we only will bring our children on Disney. If the Magic had any cat. 6's open we would book one but it is too late for the New Year Eve's cruise. As of two days ago a cat 9 was their highest cat. available. That won't work for us, we are to use to having our verandah. I just hope the powers that be at DCL are still reading these boards. This is a great resource for market research and it is free to them. I just will have to reserve a Magic New Years Eve cruise for '05! and give it to her next Christmas. Kathy

My guess is that due to increased fuel cost, the stop at Freeport will save a lot of money for DCL.

DCL has announced that they will continue with the Freeport stop on alternate 4-Night sailings through the end of the year.

These are the sailing dates that will have a Freeport stop instead of a day at sea:

June 1, 15, 29
July 13, 27
August 10, 24
Sept 7, 21
Oct 5, 19
Nov 2, 16, 30
Dec 14, 28

Just FYI! :)

Does that mean that if you are sailing May 4-8 on the wonder that you won't be stopping at Freeport? I would rather have a day at sea.
A. Brown:

We'll be sailing with you on May 4th and I assumed we'd stop at Freeport. It doesn't really matter either way, to me. I just like to know the schedule. I may give Disney a call tomorrow.

Yes, it looks like the May 4-8 cruise will indeed stop at Freeport, as scheduled.

The changes here affect cruises starting in June. Freeport stops had not been scheduled, but have now been reinstated.

I have been looking at the Navigators for the Freeport cruise, and I have to say that I do not like it! Not only have we lost our day at sea, and will be sitting in ports the whole time. But, with Castaway Cay being the last day, well that really kind of screws up the whole schedule for that day. Families will be pressed give up precious Castaway Cay time to be back onboard early to get their kids cleaned up and checked into the Club to participate in the show with Mickey Mouse. Then, there is Disney Dreams to fit in.... Can't catch the Matinee without leaving Castaway Cay. And, the last night is the popular night for Palo... On this itenerary, DCL has crammed all of their "Musts" into that one day. At least if feels that way for my family. Ohhh, I know we will go and have the most WONDERful cruise!!! But, looks like I will have to re-arrange my plans and prioritys!

I just came back to the boards after a few days and it looks like I missed a bunch!! Add me to the list of people that are not happy about this change. I really wanted my day at sea. I haven't informed my husband about this but I imagine we will cancel or try to switch to another date. It appears that a lot of other cruise lines are dropping their prices due to the war, economy, etc so as much as we want to experience Disney, we may hold off. There is an awesome deal on a maiden voyage of RCCL's newest ship, 7-day, for $299!! I need some time to digest everything and figure out what we're going to do.
