4$ meds at Wal-Mart

Is this for everyone?! Do you have to be poor? Do you have to pay to enter a program?

I didn't know about this! I can ask around, but do you have a link???

The $4.00 program is for anyone!!:thumbsup2 If you check their website as well as Target's and go to the pharmacy section you will find a list of what meds each store offers for the $4.00.

I take blood pressure medicine and have insurance and when I send of for a three month presciption I pay $40. I can get the same drug in the same quantity at Wal Mart for $12. The big mail order pharmacies are using these kinds of deals to subsidize the other lower margin drugs. Here in Houston a local TV station got a bunch of prescriptions for the same drug in the same quantity and went around getting them filled without insurance and without letting on that they were from a TV station. The price varied from a high of $112 at Walgreens/ CVS to a low of $4 at Wal Mart and Costco.

What really stinks is that my insurance company will only allow me to refill a prescription 3 times before I have to use mail order (through THEM of course) to get the rest. I hate messing with mail order.

I assume you can pay OOP for these drugs at Walmart/Target and not file under insurance to get around that? It would be cheaper that way!

You don't have to use your insurance just because you have it. If it's cheaper to pay the $4.00 than running it through insurance than definately pay out of pocket.

While I must say I am easily confused about inurance matters, I think you'll be better off paying OOP on just about any of the meds on the $4 list

Since my minimum co-pay is $10 I will always pay off the insurance.

It's probably six of one and half dozen of the other... My minimum copay is $10 too, but got charged the $4 price (even when filed on insurance). Beyond me how they compute all that stuff :confused3

They have had the $4 meds here in Florida for several months now. EVERYONE pays $4 - no insurance involved.

My Mom has $5 co-pays on her scripts, but 2 of her meds are on the $4 plan. Her insurance covers 3 months of pills per refill, so she still ends up paying $5, instead of $12 for 3 months.

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the list! Dont even need to involve your Insurance Co at all!

This is a tremendous help to so many people - both the insured and the uninsured.. I have a prescription plan myself, but the meds I have needed (and most likely "would" need if I became ill) are all on this list, so I wouldn't even consider using a traditional pharmacy and paying the co-pay..:thumbsup2

I read the fine print, its not $4 in all states and PA. is one of them.

Ok, I'm a little confused. What you are saying is that if a medication you take is on this list....regardless if you have a prescription plan or not, you can get the prescription for $4.00 :confused3. Something just doesn't seem right with it??????

While I can't blame people for wanting to save a buck.... please make sure you don't endanger your health while doing so.

Having a pharmacist that you go to for everything, everyday.... just might save your life. Be sure to remind those giving you the $4 prescriptions of your allergies and make sure they are aware of any other meds you are on. Sometimes they forget to ask. :)

It came to Georgia back in November I think. It's been a godsend for some people. I have not yet used it but keep the list just in case.

Also bear in mind that if this program isn't avaliable in your area yet - and/or you take medications that are not on the list - many, many times the Walmart price is still less than your co-pay..:thumbsup2

I had one medication that via the traditional pharmacy would have been a $20co-pay and at Walmart it was $13.. ;)

We pay zero dollars for generic meds on our plan which is GREAT since almost all our meds are generic :thumbsup2 but this is great for those that can't afford their meds now. Even if everything they have isn't on the list, some of them may be and that might allow people to get all their meds.
