4 hours for Soarin?

Is the park to avoid the one w/ extra hours?

And yeah, we're going in May, taking daughter out of school to avoid some of the crowds.

In most cases, yes. That is the case with Epcot today - extra evening magic hours. Not too sure what is so magical about those hours today. ;)

Do people exist who would pay $75-$100 for a day at Disney and spend perhaps HALF of their day on one five minute ride??????

Probably. And now they can have the 3 MK mountains reserved for the other half day, the parade, Castle show and Wishes.

But keep in mind-many folks see this week as and escape from winter, and therefore the "vacation" doesn't always hinge on how many attractions they can get in, but many other things in general.

Also many if not most probably have AP, or 7 to 10 day passes so much less per day, and the park hours are open longer so they may get some things done later.

Oh, our spring break is next week, I assumed most schools were the same! Makes me feel a little better, glad I'm not there!

The week before Easter and the week after Easter are the 2nd and 3rd busiest weeks of the entire year. Only Christmas week is worse.

With Easter late this year, I think there are even more schools doing spring break the week before vs the week after.

And no, I would never wait 4 hours for any attraction. The longest we ever wait for anything is 30 minutes. We might make an exception and wait up to an hour if it was the only chance we had to do a particular attraction.

People have been doing it for Anna & Elsa and I'm not sure that's even 5min. Probably more like 2min :)

Spring break varies. Our spring break in IL was NOT tied to Easter week. Growing up in Michigan, our spring break was tied to Easter week. Some Universities started spring breaks in late February.

To the OP,

Disney usually reserves this week and next as a peak time. FP+ is your friend in these cases, but you will have needed to do it well before your trip.

I refuse to wait more than 45 min for soarin. In general I wont do an hour wait for any ride.

Crazy! Assuming the 4 hours is a true wait time I could hop a plane in NH, fly to Orlando, pick up a rental car and be on Disney property about the time the folks getting in line now would be getting their boarding instructions. And I would be soarin for almost 3 hours instead of 5 minutes.

Even better if you have a FP+ for Soarin at 6PM-would work out perf. :thumbsup2

Interesting...at about 2:00, MDE is showing the Soarin' wait time as 150 minutes, which means they've made up about 90 minutes in the last 60. I'm still wondering if there was a temporary closure that really messed up things or people absconded with the red cards. I also wonder sometimes if they post huge wait times to chase people away until things calm down a bit. Anyway, my experience with Soarin' isn't to trust the wait times too much; sometimes its best to just walk up the ramp and see what it really looks like.

Maybe there's a huge Japanese tour group and they're all just used to waiting for that long at TDL.

I just checked wait times while playing on MDE, and the current stated wait time, at noon on a non-vacation week Tuesday, is 4 hours. That's insane. Would anyone actually get in that line? I have to wonder what the wait time for FP people is...
Some people will wait; I don't know why. I would skip it even if it was my favorite ride.

It's up to 28 degrees right now and sunny, WDW is 84 degrees and sunny.
:thumbsup2

It's most UK schools Easter holidays this week and next.....so there'll probably be a lot of UK traffic at Disney too.....

Just checked, Soarin has a 190 minute wait. I would never wait that long for anything. There are other things to check out. We arrive late tomorrow night/ early Thursday morning (1am) and have fast passes. We already know its going to be busy so we are just going with the flow.

Spring Break is really more of a 2 month season than it is a week. Everyone has a different one!

Down to 150 now. I wonder if the line reaches a point where people just look at it and say, "Nope."

I think that this is exactly what has happened, allowing the line to drop down to a more normal insane wait. :headache:

Call me naive, but maybe 4 hours was an error on the MDE site???
Been only going to WDW for 3 years now, and this is the first I have heard a ride wait for 4 hours.. Is this even possible?? Wouldnt the line for Soarin have to be so long it backs to the entrance of Epcot????

Has anyone ever waited that long for a ride or know some one who has... I can see rides breaking down, but dont you then move on???

I saw 207 minutes posted on TP, so it was not the app. It might not have been "real", but it was posted.
