What fun it is to enjoy someone who is new to cruising! I took my two DDs and my "adopted" DD on the 2/08 cruise. DD #2 and "adopted DD" had never cruised before.
We had a blast, and using that shoe holder was the best tip I ever got. I didn't even have to buy one as DD had one she loaned me.
I worried how crowded in our room we would be as I had previously cruised with only two in a room. We did fine.
I will try to do a detailed report soon.
Room 5020 is a great location!! Even without the steamer trunk we had plenty of storage space.

WELCOME HOME! Can't wait to read your trip report. So happy to hear you had a great time!

Welcome home.

I see you mentioned not having the trunk. We are in 5018, next door to where you were. We will not have the trunk either. Even though I have sailed before I can't remember all the storage areas. I just remember the trunk being very handy to have. I have been a bit concerned but you said you had plenty of storage. How did you manage with four people?
Thank you

I brought extra hangers from home ( I'm sure you can get them from the stateroom host too) and we double hung alot of our clothes ( pants, then a shirt over that, sometimes two over pants) and we used the drawers under the desk for our undies and swimsuits, socks, ect. The deep drawers under the area where the ice bucket/glasses are, we used for shorts and bulkier items. Shoes were on the floor of the closet and lined up against the long wall.
All our suitcases save for one, fit under the beds. The one that didn't fit stood out of the way next to the desk against the long wall.
We left alot of things in the suitcases under the bed until we needed them ( sweaters, jackets, snorkel gear) and just pulled them out to get what we needed )
I stressed to everyone to underpack...that they wouldn't need as much as they thought.
Of course we all still brought too many clothes!:D

Hi DisneyForLife!
I was in 5016 (next door to your 5018) CAT8 stateroom on my last cruise. Below are links to pictures of that stateroom. I hope this helps!

CRSNDSNY, thank you for the pictures. Your stateroom had the trunk, 5018 doesn't have one. My concern is that there will not be enough storage without it. We had one on our last cruise and it makes a world of difference.

But on the other hand, we are lucky enough to go on the Magic again, we will make do.

That's strange, why is that? They are both Category 8s? Or am I wrong?

From another post it seems that the diagrams of the staterooms in the brochure are showing straight lines on both walls if there is no trunk and indented lines on one of the walls in the staterooms with the trunk.

The thread is "Staterooms with steamer trunks", or something to that effect.

And having had a room with the trunk before, it made for a lot more storage room. 5018 has straight lines on both walls.

I hope I am not confusing you.

That's funny that you mention that because right after I replied to this thread, I saw that one and read it. I wonder why they did that??!!

I guess you learn something new every day! LOL
