hello everyone

first post so please be gentle!

we are planning my mil's 60th birthday. going to disneyworld! april 16 to Apr 25th.

i am looking for a hotel or whatever that we can get 4 rooms sleeping a variety of different ways. thats confusing.......let me explain.

room #1 needs a kitchen, seperate sleeping quarters and enough room for 4. (2 adults and 2 children)
room #2 needs same but the 2 adults don't sleep in the same bed!
room #3 needs a king or queen bed and thats all!
room #4 same as room #3

could anyone recommend a hotel or whatever for us. price range of $80-120 USD (we are canadiant though!)

also, does anyone know of a good online map for the area of disneyworld so i can see where in relation to it is the hotel?????????????

travelling with a 1year old and a 3 year old so hotel has to be close to disney, i guess.

never been so any advice is welcome.

thanks!

Getting a room with a kitchen in a clean and safe hotel is going to be tough.

I'd strongly suggest renting a five BR home and sharing it. That should come in under the total budget.

I would definelty look into renting a pool home. You should be able to find a 5/6 bedroom w/ 3-4 baths for the $100 a night range.

I also would suggest the pool home option. I think it would meet all of the needs you mention. We are going to be going next week and our adult children and their families are meeting us. I think it will work out very well and will be a much better financial option and well as provide more room, more privacy and hopefully more fun. Its not fun sharing your room with the kids even though we did it many times when our kids were small. We looked on vrbo and found a place in Emerald Island. It looks great. Will post when we get back. Good Luck!

Have you thought about staying at one of the "suite hotels" (Like Hawthorne, Homewood, or Embassy Suites)? We have stayed at those in the Lake Buena Vista area and found them to be really nice. They have 1 room which is a full kitchen/living/dining room and the other is a bedroom with 2 queen beds. They usually have at least 2 closets and a large bathroom. The Homewood Suites also offer standard hotel rooms with King Beds. I think Hawthorne does as well...but can't remember exactly.

We have been very satisfied with our stays there. The hotels are usually extremely clean, they offer free breakfast, and they have nice pool areas.

They are a good option if you prefer to stay in a hotel. We have stayed in these several times since 2001 and we have paid anywhere from $75 to $130 per night. Not bad for a setup with full kitchen. I don't cook on vacation, but that kitchen is very nice for snacks. The full-sized refrigerator is great for keeping lots of drinks cool!!!

This is for a vaccation in 2006 correct? I would suggest you find a pool home NOW if that is your preference. The week you asre going is Easter week an is going to be very crowded which will make getting the type of room configurations you reqire difficult to obtain.

If you want to stay on property you might want to look into renting a DVC resort.
The studio has a small fridge and microwave and either two queen beds or a queen bed and a queen sleeper couch.
The one bedroom has a full kitchen queen sleeper couch in the living room, and a king bed in the bedroom with a jacuzzi tub and seperate shower. It also has a washer dryer.
The two bedroom has a full kitchen, sleeper couch in the living room, a king bed in the bedroom with a jacuzzi tub and seperate shower and two queen beds in the 2nd bedroom with a private bath. It also has a washer dryer.
You could probably get everyone in two two bedrooms, or a combination of studio, one bedroom and two bedroom.
The DVC also has larger rooms that sleep 12 but they are very hard to get because there are not that many of them.
DVC does allow cash for some rooms, mostly off season. If I were you I would call and find out what and if there is anything available for you during the time you need.
Check out the DVC rent or trade boards also. You might be able to "buy" points from a member who would book the room using their points and transfer the reservations to you. They charge between $9 and $12 per point. Points are different for each type of room and in certain resorts they are less than others. I prefer Old Key West, both because the rooms are larger and it is a quieter resort. You might want to stay there if your family is going to do alot of things together rather than park commando each day.
I have never stayed at the new Saratoga Springs yet but I think it also would be a great place for a large group to stay.
The other DVC resorts are Boardwalk, Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge.

Welcome to the Dis! :wave2:

I would second the pool home option, or renting points from a DVCer if you want to stay onsite.:)

We had 13 last year for our two week Family reunion trip - ranging from 9 months old to 62 years young;)

And staying in 4 hotel rooms would have been a little crazy for us..trying to get the baby down for a nap would have meant everyone assigned to that room crowding into someone else's...going from room to room to visit, means everyone has to leave their door ajar - big safety issue...not to mention excessive hallway noise for the other guests...

And what if you're on different floors...and the "yummy snacks" are in someone's else's room, and it's after midnight??!! :teeth: LOL!

Here's the sites we used to find a home..
www.orlandovillas.com
www.onlinefloridavillas.com
www.villasflorida.com
They are sister sites, and you can do a general inquiry, put your bedding arrangments in as requirements, and owners that have availability with those configurations will reply.:)

HTH! You've recieved lots of good advice from everyone else - let us know what you decide:)

And don't forget to stop by the Canadian Boards!!:):)

We stayed in a house with a private pool a few years back and it was GREAT! DH and I both agreed that if we ever do a family trip with his parents and such that is the way to go. The drive to WDW wasn't bad at all and since I refuse to ride the buses at WDW if at all possible, we end up driving back and forth anyways so nothing was lost!

The one we stayed in had 5 bedrooms and slept up to 12 people. Full kitchen, dining room, heated pool, washer/dryer, living room with DVD and VCR, 3 baths. VERY nice, clean, and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy each other's company in common areas but have our own space when we needed it. And they are so affordable!

Hope you find the perfect one!

I agree with the house option. We've done that several times and always been pleased.

If for some reason that doesn't work for you, you might want to check on the Staybridge Suites in Lake Buena Vista. It has one and two bedroom suites with a full kitchen. The two BR suites also have two bathrooms. They also include a hot breakfast.
