I cannot believe what I just realized. I send DH to book our cruise and I told him to book May 18th, 2003 for the 4 of us. (DH, me, DM, and DD). Well after just doing more research online, I realized that this cruise has the day at Freeport, which is NOT what I wanted! I wanted a full day at sea! I know, I can still probably change this...but DH thinks a day at Freeport would maybe be better b/c then a lot of ppl would get off the ship and we would have the pools and everything to ourselves. What do you all think. What would you do? Would you switch to the FULL Day at Sea or stay with the Freeport stop?

I just got back, and really didn't like the day at sea. I would have prefered a stop at Freeport, as it would have given us a chance to get off the ship. :)

We are going on the same cruise, hope to see you around the ship. We decided for the Freeport day because it gives you the option of getting off the ship if you feel like it, and secondly, and most important, lots of people will venture into Freeport, if you choose to stay on the ship it is less crowded and more relaxing. Day at sea is nice but can be much more busy because everyone is on board. We like to see the port and islands as the ship comes into port too. Just our opinion, but we chose the Freeport stop week for those reasons. Hope that helps you make a decision.

When I booked our 4 day cruise over 1 year in advance, we were scheduled to have a day at sea. About 2 months prior to sailing I found out the schedule had changed and we would be stopping in Freeport.

We stayed on board the whole time and the ship was pretty much empty. The only thing I missed was sitting on the verandah watch the ocean go by.

We are on this one too. Its the only one we could be sure to fit into our trip.
It seems to be the last stop at Freeport. Does anyone know if they always dock there when scheduled? I wondered if they would cancel the stop and have a day at sea anyway.
It makes no difference to us as we have never cruised before so whatever happens we plan to enjoy

I took the cruise last year with a Freeport stop and I enjoyed Freeport MUCH better than Nassau....We did the Lucayan Beach day in Freeport and it was very nice but Nassau is a DUMP...I would stay on the ship in Nassau and get off in Freeport!

We are on the same cruise too and are looking forward to the Freeport stop so people will leave and we can use the pools without 2000 people around! A sea day is nice but much more crowded. We'll probably spend most of Nassau day on ship as well. They still have lots of activities going on onboard ship on port days.

Welcome to the May 18th Cruise!!! We need to start our own thread soon!

Hey I am on the same cruise too and can't wait.

Like most of the responses, I don't think its a big deal to stop in Freeport. I too intend to just stay on the ship and enjoy the spa, relaxing by the pool etc. I think it'll be even better cuz as mentioned above the ship will be less crowded.

I am sure you guys are as excited as me. As I walk to work all bundeled in this horrendous weather in NY I keep picturing myself on CC in 115 days!

See ya there.

Will there still be similar onboard activities such as the wine tasting and such? I thought I heard there are certain activities and certain dining options when the ship is docked?

I believe the only things that won't be operating is the shops while in port. Check out www.castawayclub.com and take a look at the navigators for Nassau and Freeport days.

Is anyone that is cruising May 18/03 staying in Port Canaveral the night before? We will be down Sat. afternoon and staying at the Radisson May 17/03. :p

No sorry. We have a timeshare we are using pre and post cruise (orange lake) in Orlando.

Remember Victoria Day weekend last year and the snow! This year HAS to be better than that!!!!!!!!!!!!

tlens, We returned last year from our cruise on May 20th, I remember the weather on the 19th was 40 o F in Georgia. Not fun after leaving Castaway Cay in the low 90's. Oh well, we will have to take what we get. Enjoy your timeshare and we hope to see you around the ship. We will be travelling with another couple from our neighborhood, both families are DH40, DW38 and 2 DD's 4 and infant from Leamington, Ontario. Close to Windsor area. :smooth:

I'm sure we'll see you in the club if nothing else. My DD will be 3.5 so they'll be in the same program.

Like Aprilgail we didnt care much for Nassau and liked Freeport much better. We got off at both and did the Dolphin Encounter in Freeport which was alot of fun and then after the tour we went back and used the ship like a sea day..that way we got to do both...get off and see another island AND pretend it was a sea day. I would have much rather skipped Nassau and gone to Freeport although I am sure some disagree. If you do stop at Freeport you can always get off and go sightseeing for an hour or two and then go back to the boat if it doesnt appeal to you. Personally we go on cruises to see different places so we at least get off and look around and then if we dont like it we go back and if we do we continue on. I do have to say though that having 3 days off the ship Nassau, Freeport and CC we were exhausted the last night...it would have been nice to just chill a little bit but I still would do that itinerary again.
