Ok, we did our first Disney cruise in March. Come to think of it, it was our first of any kind of cruise! And we did a 4 day. We took three of our four dd's (oldest couldn't miss college) The five of us loved it.

Now we're booked on a 7night Western for May '05. What can we expect? How are they different? I'm a little confused about theme nights, etc.

And...we're taking all four dd's this time. Wondering what most 20yr old's enjoy about a Disney Cruise (this will be her first ever cruise) Wondering if she'll hang with us or find things to do on her own (she can easily adapt to both situations) Trying to decide if she'd enjoy Palo, etc.

And the 2nd dd will be 17 when we cruise this time. They like to hang together, but they won't be permitted in the same places at night, correct?

We think that the best thing about the 7 day is that it's twice as long!

What's different....there's just more of everything. The shows are the same. The 7 day adds variety shows, etc. to the theatrical productions. The menus are more varied, there are the deck parties, etc.

As to the theme nights, don't sweat them. THey have gone thru several mutations over the years....basically, there are 2 formal nights. Yes, they are called "formal" and semi-formal, but there's really no difference. It amounts to 2 really dressy nights. On the Eastern, there is "Tropicali" night, on the Western, it's "Mexicali" Bottom line, wear something bright and tropical, and there will be a deck party that night. So...2 dressy outfits, one tropical outfit, the others, normal dinner clothing (no shorts in dining room).

17 year old will not be allowed in Adults only areas. 20 year old will be allowed in adult areas, but will not be served alcohol. You'd better double check, but I think 20 year old will not be allowed in Palo or Spa. Still, there are lots of family areas (some quite secluded and not crowded with children) where the kids can hang together.

18-21 is probably the hardest age on the DCL ships. They do have a few activities for this group (check the Navigator) but very few.
