Hi All,
We will be coming to Universal during Easter week. We have set aside 4 days for the parks. We will be staying at the Hard ROck so we will have express passes. Are park to park tickets needed? If I purchase the 4 day tickets now could I upgrade to the park to park later? Is 4 days too much. We are a family of 5 with 3 adults and 2 children (almost 7 and almost 10). The ticket options I am considering are
1) 4 day park hoppers ($956)
2) 4 day single park tickets ($756)
3) 3 day park to park ($860)
4) 3 day single ($660)
Since we will have 4 days with express passes I wanted to utilize all 4 days at the park (to get our money worth)but if 4 days is too much a pool day would be great too. I read somewhere someone said to buy the lower ticket and you can upgrade at the gate. If I buy single park tickets could I upgrade them at any time?

You can upgrade at the park and if you are going to want to ride Hogwart's Express train, you'll have to upgrade to park to park, as you can't ride it without them. That said, in your situation and with the unlimited express, I would say the 3 day park to park with a pool day would be my choice.

I would go to the parks each day but take a break in the afternoon for swimming.

Those prices for tickets are from the universal site correct? They do not include tax. Have you tried undercover tourist? Prices on the site include tax and free shipping. You could get the 3 park unlimited ticket: $201 per adult, $190 per child. Your looking at a total cost of $983. If you use link through mousesavers you save a little more with total=$978. Total on universal site for the 4 day park to park once you add in tax-$1018.09. The 4 day park to park ticket on undercover tourist is more money then the 3 park unlimited. I've bought tickets through them several times. They are very reliable. 3 park unlimited ticket information:

Admission to each of the following parks for every day of the ticket - 14 Consecutive Days (Park-to-Park access allowed - You can visit all of the parks on the same day):

This ticket also includes fourteen (14) consecutive calendar days of admission to the paid entertainment venues of Universal CityWalk®. The 14 days are activated on the first day the ticket is used either at a Universal CityWalk® venue, Universal Studios Florida® or Universal's Islands of Adventure®. The days do not have to be used consecutively.

At participating Universal CityWalk® venues that require a party pass, you will provide your ticket to be scanned for entry.

We found 3 days to be enough at Universal. If you are HP fans, you want the park to park to ride the train. It is super cool.

We had 3 day park to park tickets last trip. We did one full day at each park and used our third day to revisit our favorite attractions in each park. Our flight didn't leave until 8pm and frankly, we were a little bored by the time 2pm rolled around. Crowds were low and we had already done everything we were hoping to do. If you plan to move at slower pace and take breaks then you can make 4 days work, but personally, we wouldn't do that many. Granted, we are two adults with no kids.

I do agree with PP in that a park to park ticket would be worth it to ride Hogwarts Express. We also finished IoA much earlier than I thought we would, so we were able to hop over to Universal Studios which we ended up spending a lot more time at. Maybe do a 3 day ticket with park to park? Undercover Tourist had a buy 2 days get 1 free park to park tickets promotion going on, might still be.

Are you kids into all the rides and coasters? If they will do the thrill rides, this will take up more time as well. We did all the thrill rides and we only skipped the kiddie ones (a few in and near Seussland). We also didn't watch several of the shows/performances.

Not sure how brave my kids will be. Not so much into HP ( but we are trying) the reason why i think 4 days is that it is Easter week and I'm sure going to be very busy. We are also booking the hard rock for Monday night and Wednesday night (non consecutive) to get 4 full days express passes. These nights are almost $500 per night. I could cancel one of the nights and buy 3 day tickets...use express for 2 days and attempt a 3rd with out express passes ?????? We could do legolAnd for the 4th day and it would save $$. We could also cancel the 2nd night at the hard rock. Here is another question suppose I buy 3 day tix. We do two days and decide we want to do more universal with express and book hard rock again. Could tickets be upgraded to the 4 day on the 2nd day? What if I have already upgraded to park to park cld I upgrade again?

Also just found out I can buy discounted tix through my union. $923.66 including tax and shipping for 3 adult and 2 children for 4 day park to park tix. $729.48 for 4 day single park. 3 day park to park is only about $45 cheaper for all 5 of us. I think I will buy the 4 day park to park. Thanks for all your help!

I think you'll be happier with the park to park tickets. The parks are so close to each other that park hopping is easy. Plus, it's the only way to ride the Hogwarts express. As far as upgrading when you get there, if you think you'll get being back to Universal sometime in the next year, you could look into upgrading your 4 day tickets into Power Passes. Since your going during a blackout period, you'll need to do it your last day in the parks after your last park hop. I was able to upgrade my 4 day park to park ticket to a Power Pass for free.
