We are studio DVC'rs, not familiar with occupancy rules for the 1 BR units, searched here and couldn't find the information.

This is 1st time i've needed to book accommodations for five people (4 adults + 1 "infant", at least according to member website). Would like to book a 1 BR vs two studios if possible but unsure if infant counts as to the occupancy level for the 1 BRs which i've seen listed for various units as 4 or 5 pp. Note i am not trying to sneak in an extra guest.

I've decided to wait until seven month window to book to try to conserve points at the lower point resorts (if not will just book onsite or off). The 1 BR with two baths at kidani looks to be a great choice if available. Any recommendations are most welcome.:)

All DVC 1-Bdrms allow 4 adults and 1 infant (under age 3) in them (same as studios).
The rooms you are seeing that say 5 in them have the sleeper chair. This means that up to 5 adults and 1 infant could be in them.

thank you:thumbsup2just wanted to be sure before I tried to book anything online when the window opens

Though you can put 4 + 1 in any 1BR, AKV Kidani, BLT and OKW become ideal choices for comfort level. AKV Kidani and BLT even add an extra bathroom. Those three are larger than the 1BRs at the other WDW resorts (and OKW is literally huge) and add the sleeper chair (twin bed size) to the usual king and the pull-out queen. In other words, if this is going to be your first attempt at a 1BR, I would recommend choosing one of those.

I do recommend the 1BR-standard view at Kidani (for extra bathroom) or the 1BR at OKW (for large size and great layout...real dining table and full laundry room)...both have sleeper sofa and sleeper chair and both are good for conserving points.

EDIT TO ADD- OKW and AKV-Kadani/standard view are both likely to be available at 7 months out. We just switched MIL and FIL over from OKW 1BR in HH section to AKV-Kadani/standard view 1BR at 7 months out for Christmas.

Personally for your party size the only 1 bedrooms I would consider are Kidani and BLT and OKW. The others would be too small for comfort IMO.

We did this exact thing last summer and stayed at Kidani. The 2nd bathroom was HUGE for making everyone's stay comfortable, plus it allowed everyone to get ready in time to get to a park. If we ever take the in-laws to Disney again, we will definitely do the one bedroom at Kidani!

I would definitely recommend the 1-bedroom with 2 baths for that many adults. Either Kidani or BLT are the only ones with 2 baths. I'd be concerned with the OKW 1 bedroom with only 1 bath, because I've seen where the bathroom is entered only from the bedroom (i.e. no privacy for anyone).

Taking notes, didn't realize BLT had 2 baths, thanks again:goodvibes

The 1BRs at OKW- the higher numbered buildings have a door in the laundry room to the bathroom and the lower numbered buildings have no door off the laundry to the bathroom (can only get to bathroom from master bedroom in these).

If you are used to a studio with 4 adults then I would feel any 1-bedroom would work. OKW does have the most space but you do have to enter Master Bedroom to get to Bathroom in some rooms as posted prior to this post.

2 bathrooms is nice but again if a studio worked before I would pick the resort you really want to stay at.

I'm used to a studio with 2 adults and find it cozy. imo bit of a challenge after a few days with kids on the sofabed. Wouldn't want to subject any other adult to the snoring going on in our bedroom;)

OKW bathroom access via master BR defeats the idea of having separate sleeping rooms for me. I love my family but think the idea of some personal space is a good idea after a week+ together for everybody involved.

Have never stayed @ OKW, realize there is a category near the main pool. Should I assume desired higher numbered room/non-walk thru to bath in the 1 BR would be a request only?

Request a villa in buildings 30 and above. They have the entrance to the bathroom through the laundry room. It is only a request but I have gotten it the times I have asked. Make it your first or only request to up the chances. Also remember that OKW only has a couple of buildings that have elevators so you may want to consider that if you have a stroller to deal with.
We really liked the 1BRs at Kidani and BLT because of the extra bathroom.

Good luck and hope you get what you need and have a great trip.

At OKW, you want Turtle Pond or South Point. All Hospitality House Area villas do not have the door through the laundry room.

The high-numbered buildings are actually NOT near the main pool. The lower numbered buildings, in the Hospitality House section- near the main pool, are the ones with no door from laundry room to bathroom. The Turtle Pond section (higher numbered buildings) would be a nice request...they have a great quiet pool with a bar/snack shack and a video arcade room. They have the bathroom access from the laundry room.

OKW Buildings 30 and up (South Point and Turtle) are locations desired by many. If these have the bathroom door in the laundry room that is a plus.

I like being able to take a boat to DTD from OKW, we may only do this once though.

If you have a car its nice that you can park right outside your Villa or very close to it.

The negatives

Very limited elevators. Not likely to get one and if you did its in the area of bathroom access from master bedroom.

Buidlings 30 and up are a distance from main pool, restaurants, boat dock and check in. You will have a kinda long walk or wait for a bus to get there. I am thinking its maybe 10 to 15 minute walk from the farthest Villa.

I would consider AKL Kadani for the two bathrooms or splurge for 2-bedroom.
