We have not considered the Magic for spring break 2012 for a few reasons...the 3 Disney cruises we have been on have all included the Eastern itinerary islands (one cruise was the 11-night holiday cruise but still went to the standard Eastern islands...), so while I love that itinerary, I think we need a change of pace. And DH especially is ready to try a ship other than the Magic. But hey, there's no such thing as a bad Disney cruise so no matter what anyone does it will be great if it's Disney!

I've been looking at other cruise lines lately as well - gasp!!! :scared1: LOL. Just thinking ahead beyond next year. I think with 4 Disney cruises under our belts we might think about branching out and trying some other new ships on other lines...Celebrity has a new ship coming out in 2013 and I'd love to sail with them someday. I know it will be a slightly older, more subdued crowd but DH and I would likely fit in well (as we are not big partiers) and DD might enjoy a smaller kids club experience...I figure there will be some kids over a school holiday, especially to the Caribbean, right?! DD has also mentioned wanting to sail on the NCL Epic ever since she saw the ship and all the slides in port in St. Maarten last December.

we thought about changing to the April 6th. I didn't mind about the itineraries because i haven't done Western or Eastern but for us the expense is the airfare getting out there and doing all the parks as ell. I figured that in the grand scheme of things and how much we were paying out anyway it wasn't all that much more for the Fantasy. Actually i would probably prefer the Magic as i'm really worried about how busy Fantasy is going to be but my DS is desperate to go on the new ship - as we won't be out in Florida again any time soon and we did Magic last year we are sticking with Fantasy!!
What a ramble! You get my drift though ...
I haven't read all these pages as i started off and was confusing myself with whether i was on the MV thread or the April 7th thread (hoping it's the 7/4/12). Have we decided anything yet?- eg Fish Extenders (my son's absolute favourite thing on the boat!!!) or am i being a little too early!! LOL i am sooooo excited already :)

oooh i just read back a few pages and realised i had already posted!! That's me - slightly ditsy! At least i know i'm on the right thread now :) I was just a little confused i think by all the people changing dates. I guess our board will fill up the closer we get ...

We just found out our school district calendar for next year ... and just booked on the April 7th 2012 sailing of the Fantasy. So, joining you group. We sailed on the Dream 4/21 - 24 2011 and had a fabulous time. Couldn't book on the ship because we didn't know when the kids were off next year and weren't sure we really wanted to go. We really got the itch and just booked yesterday.

Can't wait ... :cool1::cool1::banana::cheer2:

:welcome: Welcome to everyone joining the thread!

cwbagne, for future reference, I thought I'd mention (in case you didn't know) that you can book a "dummy date" onboard and then transfer it later to another date. We didn't know our spring break dates either when I booked this onboard, so I made a booking for a week I knew we weren't going just to lock in the 10% discount and OBC. Then when I knew our dates I just transferred the reservation and got 10% this sailing and kept my OBC. Just some FYI in case you decide to book onboard again (and DCL is quite habit-forming!)

Wondered if anyone here has ever been to the food and wine festival at WDW? DH and I were considering it this fall to celebrate our anniversary...just a few days and just the two of us! I'd love to hear any input!

Hi to all. Booked this cruise before we found out it was not maiden voyage. Oh well, fits our school vacation schedule. We are 2 grandparents travelling with our 13 year old granddaughter. Our 2nd on DCL her 1st. We have been to both WDW and DL many, many times and she is hooked on Disney as are we. This is our 19th cruise overall, her 4th. Love all the new excitement over the Fantasy and thought we'd give it a try. We are very used to Princess and Anytime dining, so dining schedlue has really been the hangup for us. But, we will see how it goes. Looking forward to all the excitement!!!

We will be joining ya'll on this cruise. It falls during disney son's spring break and we can't wait to see the new ship. It will be me, dh(31) and ds(14).

We can't wait to see the new ship!
We boarded the Disney Dream last Easter Sunday and are looking forward to spending Easter on another Disney cruise!

It will be myself and my 6 year old daughter and 3 year old son in our cabin and my parents in another cabin.

I would love to join the fish extender list as well!

Hey everybody! This thread has been SOOO quiet! I've got a countdown icon on my phone for this vacation and I think it's down to 239 days or something...I remember when it was way over 400!

Just had my DD's passport photo taken this week to renew it and picked up a DCL brochure at the same time. DD was getting very excited over the pictures of the new ships and cannot wait to go! Seeing that also renewed my excitement! (Not that I wasn't already excited, but when it's 400+ days away it's hard to keep up that energy the whole time - ha ha)

I know it has been really quiet around this post! I am a teacher and 2 days into the new school year, I fell down the stairs and broke my foot! Of course it is my right one so that means no driving. 2 weeks off school. Not a great beginning!
Our plans are all set. Hyatt Regency at the airport 1 night pre cruise and Disney transfer to port. :cool1: Not sure how check in at port is and have tried to read as much as possible. Thought the transfer might be the best way to go. Hope some new pics come out soon. I want to see MY SHIP not the Dream anymore!

Sure hope you are feeling better and that your students were ready for your return!

I agree, I would like to see some pictures of the Fantasy as well :goodvibes

Anyone out there with a party of 3 in an inside room that is not on deck 9? We recently switched from the March 30th Western Caribbean to this cruise because of our older daughter's sports schedule, and wanted to keep a cruise around Spring Break. Unfortunately, at the time we were only able to put down a deposit for myself, husband and 1 daughter.
We are in an 11A on deck 9, and even though the room will allow for an extra child, DCL says that this particular deck will not allow for a 4th person because of lifeboat allowance, etc. All inside rooms are sold out, but there is a chance on another deck, other inside rooms with 3 guests will allow for 4 because not all inside rooms have 4 guests on other decks.
Hope this is not too confusing.
Just looking into all options aside from checking the website everyday.
Thanks so much!

Just changed to a different date. This Easter/Spring Break cruise is a popular one for sure! Have fun everyone!

Under 200 days. Really excited. So many questions and never seem to locate answers thru search. Cast is off my foot and back at school only walking gingerly and trying not to do too many stairs. Anyone on this thread an experienced Disney Cruiser? We have done 1 cruise on the Magic many years ago and not too up to date with policies etc. Would like a few answers. Thanks

Just booked our pre-cruise night at the Hyatt this week ... Friday, April 6th. :thumbsup2 Arriving from LA really late! Transferring to the ship in the AM ... trying to decide DME or getting a transfer to get there before the rush ...

Hi Everyone,
I received an email from DCL that stated that they are re-categorizing many staterooms due to "obstructed views". We will be receiving a refund as our category has now been downgraded! I am excited but I wonder what staterooms we would be eligible for if we stayed at the same category! I am guessing that many folks complained about the obstructed views and therefore, prompted DCL to reevaluate their categories. This will all be in effect on the website on or after 10/18/11. I will let you know how much we get back!!! The new categories are 4E, 5E, 7A, 9C and 9D. The letter includes all the affected stateroom numbers.

Less than 6 months to go!!!

We got the same email, but we got upgraded from a 5E to a 4E, so no refund...however, I look at it now as having saved even more money since the 4E would cost a lot more! LOL! :rotfl:

I didn't search the entire thread but has anyone booked airfare from NJ to MCO yet? I just priced air on several airlines and it's outrageous!!! Continental is over $1000/pp!!!! Never in my life have I see prices that high for airfare from EWR to MCO. I know it's a holiday but my goodness. Looks like we'll be driving!!!

We also received the recatagorizing letter and we went from 5E to 4E so I quess that would be a savings. We are also staying at the Hyatt on the 6th and doing transfer to port in the morning. Sounds like less hassle and we might get an earlier boarding number. Our airfare was purchased early, last June, so it was fairly reasonable from Chicago to MCO. About $350 per person on United and U.S.Air. I could not imagine paying that much for airfare and then the cruise besides!

It is so good to see more activity on this board! :thumbsup2

Hopefully we will get a lively group here over the next few months. I have heard others say that they think this group is quieter because some people were still confused about this week being the Maiden Voyage.

I have a countdown icon on my Droid that tells me the number of days till the cruise. I remember when it was over 400 days away! Now we're in the 160's. I can hardly believe it!
