My brother is taking his 2 children to WDW for the first time May 29-June 3.
Should he concentrate on only the MK and AK? MK is a given and my nephew loves animals and dinosaurs so AK is great. We have a princess meal scheduled for their first evening @ Epcot so they may get to do a little @ that park. I just don't know if MGM and Epcot have enough to keep the kids happy for a whole day. They would get really bored with the shows @ MGM and Epcot has very little-except Honey I..... , Imagination,UOE. I'm sure he'll bring the kids back every year or so.What do ya'll think? They are staying @ the Swan, so they qualify for EMH.

i won't be going till August, but i'm staying a bit longer - 8 nights and we plan to hit everypark!

Is he getting the park hopper? if so, maybe they can do AK and maybe epcot same day

a couple of days MK and maybe hop over to MGM.

I guess it depends also on the kids schedule - is he planning on staying all day, 1/2 day - back for naps etc???????

check over on the families board everyone is posting there itiniraries.

We are traveling after your dates with my two DS's 4 and 6. We are doing all 4 parks and we have the hopper. So my plan is to try out MGM and if they don't like it we just won't go back and we'll spend the rest of the time at the parks they like the best.

Thanks ya'll. Yes,he does have park hopper tickets.

The kids will love MK and AK. There are some really good things at MGM for younger kids. Playhouse disney, a bugs life, buzz and woody to name a few. You could always go and leave when the kids have had enough and go to another park. My little dd went to all the parks at age 1,3, and 5 and always had fun at all of them. You can't see everything anyway, so if the kids are really happy with MK and AK then that's what you should do.

My sons will be 4 and 6 this august when we go and its their 3rd time going. We do every park. Epcot is actually great for the kids. lots of hands on stuff you just have to look into it. SAORIN is great. my kids loved it. and Ellens Energy show was pretty cool b/c it had dinosaurs which my kids loved. and there is malestrom in norway spaceship earth (the big ball) is cool. I love epcot for the kids.. MGM is ok. they liked the indiana jones show but it was loud. but thats when they were 4 and 2. The backloft thing is cool, FANTASMIC is a must, my kids want to go on the Tower of Terror this year too. So it all depends on their fear level! there are lots of great resturants at MGM too. To be honest AK is our least favorite park. we can get through their in a half a day! MK is the absolute best park for them though. Splash Mountain is their favorite!

We went March 04. My DD 7 (turned 7 before we went and very tiny) and DS4 (1 month from turning 5) loved MK and especially MGM. There are lots of things to do there. They loved, Star Tours, Indiana Jones, Muppets 3D, Playhouse Disney, Beauty and the Beast show, Vovage of the Little Mermaid. The one thing that was the highlight of MGM is the Cars Motor Parade in the afternoon. A lot of the characters walk, so the interaction with the kids is excellent. My kids talked about that parade when we got back. Hope you have a great trip!!!

:thumbsup2

If you have the park hoppers I would take them to all the parks. We went last September with my 2 daughters (one just turned 5 and the other 2.5). At MGM they loved Playhouse Disney Live, Voyage Little Mermaid, the Great Movie Ride and the Honey I Shrunk the kids playground. What we missed but wanted to see (too hot that day! headed to a water park) was the Muppets 3D and the Beauty and the Beast show. From your post I get the feeling your brother has a boy and a girl (from the princess meal). MGM is not my favorite park- but worth checking out. Plus they seem to have a ton of characters hanging out as well, particularly in the area where you first come in. My kids also really loved the Sci Fi dine in too (they were actually quiet and watched the movie clips!)
Surprisingly my kids also loved Epcot. Believe it or not, they loved Spaceship Earth (I'm still pondering that one- I just like hearing Jeremy Irons voice!), Living with the Land, Soarin, (would have checked out Living Seas but was closed at the time). The other brilliant thing in the World Showcase was the Kidcot fun stops. Basically you get the mask they can decorate and go from country to country to get add ons for it. It got them around the showcase and they loved it. Plus, they have entertainment in each of the countries, clown/juggler in Italy, candy lady in Japan, Jasmin and ALaddin in Morocco. Maelstrom is also good for the kids, scary enough in a kiddish way to make them feel brave, but fun!
I know I kind of ran on here, but I was pleasantly surprised by Epcot and there really was plenty to hold their interest!
Hope this helps!

Great feedback! Since I've been so many times,I've become the unofficial WDW planner for the family. It's funny that I don't stress as much about our own trips :rotfl2: . I'll just suggest that he go to the parks and do things that ya'll have suggested. I really appreciate all the support from my Dis friends

Don't forget MGM has the muppets, Playhouse Disney & the Little Mermaid... not to mention Fantasmic. Even if they just did a half day after AK closed they could see those attractions! And I bet they would love it!

We went this spring for our first family trip and the kids were 4 & 6.

We went to the Magic Kingdom the first day and they LOVED it!

The next day we went to Epcot for Princess Lunch and did Turtle Talk with Crush and Norway Ride theyenjoyed everything but they kept asking when we were going to ride "Buzz and Dumbo".

So the next day we went back to MK :thumbsup2

The next day we went to Animal Kingdom and they LOVED the place (Safari, Lion King Show, Dinosaur) and did not ask about the Magic Kingdom either they were content there or now knew the difference between the parks and knew "Buzz and Dumbo" were not a choice at that park.

I would recommend Park Hopping for that age group only because my kids wanted to go to Magic Kingdom every day and we did except once.

They also LOVED the character meals.. especially Chef Mickeys.

I think there are a lot of things in MGM that children may enjoy such as the stage shows and maybe even the thrill rides. I recommend giving it a try and seeing what the kids like. If the kids don't like a certain park, then you don't need to go back there, but you may be pleasantly surprised with what the all the parks have to offer for children.

My son was 3 the first time he was at WDW and 6 on his last visit. Every park has its magic for the little once...

Some highlights where the KIDcot, viking ship playarea and the water features at epcot... Yes (I can't say it enough) for the little once it doens't always have to be the rides as they can enjoy so many other things. I would not miss EPCOT...

Another hit, bone digging at AK... After 1 hour I did wonder why I came to WDW if all he wanted to do was dig for bones :teeth: ....

Whatever you do... Enjoy and take lots of pictures so you can share them with us...
