Trying to decide if we should book 4 or 5 days. if we do 5 we will do 4 i the parks and 1 day at the hotel water park (courtyard on harbour)
is it worth it to have a "rest" day ? travelling with kids who will be 8,5,4,1 or jsut do 4 days in the park and maybe do the pool in the afternoon one day !

We just returned - we spent 5 days in the parks and had 2 full rest days - one pool and one beach - and we LOVED having those full days off from the parks.

We arrived Friday, Saturday in parks, Sunday pool day, Monday and Tuesday in parks, Wednesday beach day, Thursday and Friday in parks and flew home Saturday. It was still tiring so I can't imagine 5 days in a row as some people do!!

I am a newbie to DL.. but a WDW veteran... but when the kids were young.. we always used a rule of thumb as 2 days in parks.. 1 day at pool...... just makes for a happier time for everyone.....

I would do 5 days with a rest day. We can never go that long, our longest trip has been 4 days with 2 full days in the park and half days on arrival/departure days. If we could do 5 days, we definitely would do that! Instead, we go for the days we can and still take afternoon breaks at the pool. You may not want to spend an entire day at the waterpark, but it will still be nice to sleep in that day, maybe cruise around DTD, see a movie, or go to the beach. You may still want to get 5 day park hoppers in case you want to go into the parks for dinner or the parade/fireworks on your off day. Have fun!

Just to add, I think the age of your kids is perfect for your chosen accommodation - considering they offer rooms with 2 sets of bunks - and they are all still young enough to really enjoy the water park area.

We have done it both ways and we had a MUCH better time when we added a day of rest (or really a non-park day) in the middle of the trip. Without it we were dragging by the final day. Since we started having a rest day in the middle we have had a lot more energy at the end of the trip and were much more relaxed.

Rest/pool day! We did 3 park days, rest day, 2 park days.

Our rest day was sleeping in, character breakfast, pool, lunch, pool, chill in hotel room, roam DTD, dinner, bed. It was perfect.

I would do a 5 day trip/ticket, but take some afternoons off to relax/play at the pool and then go back to DL in the evening. The price difference between a 4 & 5 day ticket is pretty negligible, isn't it??

Given the ages of your kids, a rest day is a must! You'll have happier kids and happier parents when everyone doesn't feel exhausted. Plus, you'll be paying for the water park privileges anyway. Why not get a full day's use out of it?

Rest day is so worth it! One trip we actually ended up adding a day after 4 days in the parks because we were too exhausted to do our last day. It was a very expensive lesson (last minute booked a Fri night during summer in the Residence Inn suite we were staying in) so we never forgot it! Rest days are important, especially with kids that age. Eventually we transitioned to staying onsite with no rest day, but the kids are adults now so the "go! go!" frenzy and energy spikes are no longer an issue ;) Have a great trip, that hotel looks neat!

In 4 full days with those ages I'm guessing you'll only get to ride each ride once. Especially if you're coming at a busy time of year. Based on our last trip with 2 babies.

My thought is 5 park days but half a day each day in the pool. Or at least a good portion of the day.

Thanks everyone. I'll definitely be booking for 5 days so we can have a day of rest. I never thought of doing a character meal on that day sure would have some park time wasted !
Looking at either the beginning of October or December. Haven't decided on Christmas or Halloween yet !!

Some people say happy wife happy life... I say happy kids happy life
