4/3 with AP

Actually, we considered that, but getting the 7-10 day tickets would only have saved us about $15 to $30 (can't remember the exact amount). I decided not to do it because we A) Didn't want to tie up the money up front just to get the savings later (i.e. you have to pay for those more expensive tickets when you pay the balance off) and B) I was a little nervous about being able to trade in the more expensive tickets for the AP since we haven't done it before. Just my own insecurity because many people have reported success. Anyway, yes, you could save a little more but to me it didn't seem worth it at the time.

Not to nick-pick, but... :confused3 $15-$30 ? :confused3

Adding the no expiration option on a 7 day base ticket would save you $73.48 per adult ticket and a 10 day base ticket would save you $105.44 per adult ticket under the 4/3 deal. You get three days for free. You just need to make sure you use the ticket at least once first.

I certainly understand not wanting to invest the money upfront (still debating that one myself), but it is a good long-term savings. If you know it is just a few months (my case is over a year and I already am sitting on several tickets at a good value), it might really be worth it. Way over $15-$30. BTW, the difference between a 4-day and a 7-day base ticket is $9.58 per adult ticket without adding the no expiration option. I think you ran the wrong numbers.

Upgrades are common and very, very rarely have an issues. And most of those are cleared up instantly.

It's been a very long standing policy. You just got some extra pixie dust from a CM who did something they shouldn't have. I think it's great that worked for you, but don't expect a repeat performance.

Thanks for the info. Good to know for future reference. I still think I got a better deal this way though. Even disregarding the ticket (and whether or not I will ever use it), I still got an extra night for $18 more after you allow for the $200 gift card. Another thing I didn't mention is that I was able to realize a savings of over $100 per airline ticket by staying the additional night.

So for me the 4/3 deal was still better than my 40% AP code. I would suggest that anyone price it out both ways before making a decision. What works out best for one of us isn't always best for someone else.

I read on mousesavers that the 4/3 is a better deal because of the free gift card and the room is 43% off.

I booked the 4/3 last week just to be on the safe side, waiting to see if anything will come up for the a/p discount, i hate having to buy the one day ticket....

oh btw, nice avatar! :)

I guess I am not understanding the savings if I am upgrading to an Annual Pass. The way I calculated it was getting the 7-day ticket (which I only paid the price of the 4-day ticket although during trade in I understand I would get the price of the 7-day applied to my AP) which, you are right, is about $18 savings I think for 2 adults - total savings. So I don't understand how I would save the additional money if there is no discount for the additional days (i.e. the 3 extra days after the 7-days)? Also, why would I need to pay for no expiration option if I were upgrading to an AP?

Under the 4/3 deal, you get 3 free days on the ticket you buy. The no expiration option price goes up with each day purchased. If you use the ticket at least once before upgrading, you get the current gate value credited to your AP, not the price you paid.

You purchase the no expiration option to get the extra savings. So you get the extra, say $105.44 from the no expiration on a 10 day ticket credited towards your AP without paying for it, per say. You can buy any ticket with the 4/3 deal. You just get a max of 3 days free. Buy a 7 day ticket, pay for a 4 day ticket. Buy a 10 day ticket, pay for a 7 day ticket.

The link I posted probably explained it more clearly. It's all about whether you want to pay in advance for a huge savings, or just keep your current bottom line lower. I just want you to know what all your options are so you make the best decision for you. I would want to know.

OK - now I see what you're saying and yes, it is good to have all the information available before making a decision. For me, I still wouldn't have gone with paying for the extra days and no expiration up front for the reasons I listed previously. As I am a "worry wort", I would have been stressed out by the possibility that I could not get my money back with those more expensive tickets (or they change the rules the day I get there ;) ), and besides, I am very happy with the deal I got already. While it wouldn't have been worth it for me, I do see that for people looking to save even more it may be a viable option though...

OK, a little different twist. I booked the 4/3 package but we are coming to Orlando 4 days sooner than we check in (staying off-site). I guss you can't use your park tickets until you check into the resort. Should I change our tickets to 1 day tickets on the package and buy seperate 10 day tickets. Would the 10 day tickets be able to be put onto our room keys? What would happen to the 1 day tickets, would they be on our room keys? Does it make any difference if we have the dining plan? Thanks!

To really make the best recommendation in how to purchase your tickets, I need to know how long are you staying onsite.

Other than that… You may not get your tickets before check-in. You can put any ticket (except any type of AP) on your room key. You would need to remove your one-day ticket first. Resort concierge (located near the check-in desk, if not right next to it) can do both for you. It won’t affect your dining credits at all. If you opt to keep your 10-day tickets off your room key, you can either leave your one-day ticket or remove it. The one-day ticket will never expire until used and can be upgraded up to 14 days after first use. No, being used doesn’t render it fully dead in regards to upgrades.

We are staying off - site for 4 nights first and then the Poly for 7 nights, with the 4/3 package. I want to get 10 day park hopper with the water park tickets. What would be the best ticket option? Get 1 day base tickets with my package and then get the 10 days seperate? What is the best place to get the 10 day tickets? I wish that you could access your package tickets before check in...

What would be the best ticket option?

Just a quick question, do you have an AP? and if your are stayin offsite, are you going to be visiting WDW? Just thinking, not sure about the cost out... wonder if the AP would be better for you?

I want to go to the water parks and probably Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios before we go to the Poly. If you got an annual pass ( I don't have one now) wouldn't you still need to buy park tickets to get the 4/3 deal?

Your problem is your offsite nights are first. You can’t access your park tickets before you check-in because you might not show up for your package. You do need to buy at least a one-day base ticket with the 4/3 deal. It’s a package deal. If your offsite nights were last, you could upgrade your 4/3 deal tickets and get an AP—the best deal. Too bad you can’t switch it. Well, you could, but…

Hmmmmmmm…. You’ll be there 11 nights (12 days?). It really sounds to me that an AP, especially if you are getting the PH option, is your best bet. You’d get free parking ($12 value each day) for each of your 4 nights offsite. With PH, an AP becomes the least expensive ticket media after 11 days. Of course, an AP won’t get you into the water parks, but it will get you a discount on water park tickets and the free parking will cover that cost for at least a ticket or two. A PAP isn’t really worth the price, especially from the sounds of your plans.

OK, I’d say as things are—it won’t be your best deal, but as things are you’d probably still be saving over $800 or so (I’m guessing on what we’re saving at the Poly on the 4/3 deal)—buy a 10-day ticket from a discount ticket broker. Maple Leaf and Undercover Tourist from the “secret” link in the Mouse Savers newsletter are a couple of really good, trustworthy ones. Just make sure you are looking at prices that include shipping and taxes when you cost compare. Then get a one-day base ticket with the package.

You could also get the APs still and do one-day base tickets with the package. There really is no bonus to buying AP vouchers in advance. No savings unless you are AAA, purchasing from AAA South.

You're really just going to have to run the numbers to see which comes out the least expensive.

For AP's, to get the 4/3 deal, you only have to purchase 1 MYW ticket per person to get the deal. And that ticket you can use for a future renewal of your AP, if that is what you decide.

oh, ok, thanks for the help, I already have my airfare and the Poly was only open for those dates and nothing earlier so if I switched it would be to a different resort which I don't want to do. I'll just stick to getting the 1 day base with my package and then getting tickets/AP seperate.
