4+3 Breaking Down Price Question

I just looked into a 4+3 deal for my daughter and 3 friends (graduation trip!) at Pop starting 6/22 with 3 7 day park hopper passes. I was quoted 1517 and told that the 7 day park hopper passes include 3 free days (so same price as 4 day hopper). But when I do the math for 3 adults at the Pop ($125 a night - $10 over standard price for 3rd adult), I get $562.50 (incl. tax). When I add 3 hoppers at $268.50 (I think that's the right price for a 4 day hopper incl. tax), it brings it to $1368. Am I missing something? Or could it be that the person on the phone was wrong about the 3 free days on the hopper? It still seems like a pretty good deal, but by my math it's closer to a 5+2 than a 4+3.

Are you doing any Dining Plan? The dining plans are not buy 4 get 3 free. Only the room and tickets.

No dining plan, but I hadn't thought of travel insurance and higher weekend rates. I'll have to ask about that. Would they just include travel insurance automatically in the package without asking? And am I right in thinking the 7 day hopper comes at the price of the 4 day hopper, with 3 nights thrown in gratis?

They usually include the travel insurance without asking. When I asked for a quote they told me that everything was included. My numbers didn't add up to theirs so I asked if travel insurance was included and they told me it was. Just remember that it is just an option and you can refuse it if you don't want it.

I have never had the insurance added without being asked first, so I am guessing it is probably the higher weekend rates that are making it more. Go to the website and price it out yourself and then you can see the breakdown for yourself. that is what I do, so I know when I call if the price is right or not. Even the website gives you the option to decline the travel insurrance before completing booking. I never book onlie, I prefer to deal with a real person, but ALWAYS run my numbers before calling.

There is an extra adult charge for each adult over 2 (3rd, 4th, etc) in a room. Are you allowing for that?

I'd have to say, go online and price it out. Sometimes it is simply easier if you are looking at it yourself.

Weekends frequently have higher rates than weekdays. When calculating the price I'm finding they take the total cost divided by 7 to get the per day average charge and then subtract three of the averaged days from the price. I know for some dissers there is a mystery behind it, but every time I run the package price for any dates, any resort, any ticket/dining/person combination, that is always what I come up with.

I just plugged your trip into the Disneyworld website and it came out to be $1558.65, but that includes the trip insurance for the 3 girls.

If you did take the insurance, it would be $1357.60 (closer to what you think). I would contact Disney back and find out if the insurance is the extra charge.

Yes. The price for the room is $115 on weekdays, $125 weekends.
Plus the extra adult charge. So two of the days the price would be $135. The others would be $125.

That's not much of a difference though. Did you talk to someone over the phone? They usually give you a price with insurance first and then the price without insurance. I think it goes through with the insurance and then if you don't want it they remove it. Maybe they forgot to ask.

Thanks for all the help! For some reason I just didn't think of going online and seeing what it cost that way. But when I do it I get $1357.80 without insurance, but without the park hopper option. And for some reason the web site doesn't give me an option to upgrade that part of the vacation package. I spoke with Disney just now about it and was told that the price I was quoted did not include insurance. But she said she couldn't break it down for me in terms of price of individual components (room vs. tickets). That's one thing I always dislike about Disney vacation packages and why I usually purchase the room and tickets separately.

Oh well, it's still a pretty good deal. Only about $24 more than booking a room at the Pop for 5 nights with a AAA discount (oddly, 9% rather than 10%) and getting the six day park hopper special they have at Undercover Tourist, which is what I was originally planning for.

But if I add the price of three hopper upgrades (53.25 x 3) to the price I was quoted online, it comes to exactly the price I was quoted over the phone.''

Though the 3 hopper upgrades explains the difference between the lower online price and the higher quote I got over the phone, it still leaves the price of the room plus base tickets to be higher than what it would be if I'd paid for them separately.

I guess I am confused about what you are confused about

I just priced a room at Pop from 6/22-6/29 for 3 adults and its $1007 and then buying tickets separately its $834. Still amounts to more than what you were quoted for the 4/3 deal...

Okay, here's my issue. The online price I get for a 4/3 at the Pop for 6/22-6/29 for 3 adults with 3 base park tickets is 1357.80. But, assuming they're taking the average cost of the room across the entire seven days as what they're charging for the 4 days, when I crunch the numbers and add in the cost of 3 base park tickets, I get a number 82.71 less than what the package costs. Here's my math:

125x5=625 (5 nights at 125)
135x2=270 (2 nights at 135)
625+270=895 (Total for all 7 nights)
895/7=127.86 (average cost per night)
127.86x4=511.44 (total cost of 4 nights before tax)
511.44x.125=63.93 (tax on total cost of 4 nights)
511.44+63.93=575.37 (total cost with tax for room)

233.24x3=699.72 (total cost of 3 base park tickets with tax)

575.37+699.72=1275.09 (total cost of 4 nights at Pop for 3 adults and 3 base park tickets)

So what is the extra 82.71 needed to get to 1357.80?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not upset about this. As I said earlier, it's still a pretty good deal for a 7 night stay. It's just not the deal you would expect given the way it's described when you try to break down the costs of the room and tickets separately . . . which is why, I guess, Disney won't break those costs down for you!

What is the OZI code and how do you get one? I booked 10 days with the 4/3 plan at the CBR in a pirate room + dining for a family of 4. Our vacation is flexible so I could reschedule if I needed to. Do you get your deposit back if you cancel your reservation? Thanks in advance for your help!

My final conclusion is that, for the trip I'm planning, I'm paying $85 into a fifth day's stay on the 4/3 deal I got. Since the average cost per night with tax is $147.04, I think a fairer characterization for the deal I got is something like a 4.6/2.4 deal. I really wish Disney would break down individual elements in these vacation packages so you could actually see what you're paying for. I can't help but think it's just their way of charging more than you would expect simply trying to figure out what the deal should cost based on individual elements (paying for 4 nights and a 4 day MYW ticket). Still, bottom line is I'm keeping it. My other option was a 5 night stay with a AAA discount and I'm getting 7 nights now for an extra $24. Pretty good deal in the end.
