4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

pixiedust: for you Sandy

:welcome: to new families to the boards and to the others that are checking in once again.

Question of the week:
FOr people that have been on the cruise before , what is your favorite part?
FOr people that have not been on the cruise before, what are you rlookig forward to the most?

For those that have been on the cruise before, anyone been to the roman baths at the Spa?

-Paula

Are the roman baths part of the Rainforest Room? If so, I've done that before. I thought the Rainforest Room is worth it, especially if you don't go to the spa a lot. It's a sauna, steam room, and the famous heated chairs.

We went on a 4-night Wonder cruise in 2006. It's hard to pick my favorite part but I would have to say the dinners and Castaway Cay. The adult beach is fantastic!

Hi all,

My favorite part of the cruise was Castaway Cay and the Oceaneer Club. The girls were 3 and they LOVED it. They can't wait to go back.  :yay:

I'm having lots of fun searching for things for the FEs. I think adults are harder than kids!:scared1:

I may have already said this, but please put us down for 2 adult and 2 kids wristbands (even if they don't fit the girls will love having what the big kids have).

Sending pixie dust and  to Sandy.

Nice seeing the pictures I feel like I already know some of you.
I am trying to figure out how to do that, since I am back to using dial up it is a very slow process just to get to the boards but you all are worth it.
I checked my reservation and it says I have Main dining I hope that is the early dining; anyone know?
Got some FEs today. I can see I am going to get lots of exercise delivering them. Someone want to tell me what is a good time to deliver them or do we just do it when we can. I am hoping to get enough for at least 2 or three of the days. Don't think I will be able to do something every day.
I also read on a thread that someone was tagged Can anyone explain.

I guess you can tell I am really getting excited.

PS Sandy I gathered all the pixie dust I could find and blew it in your direction.

Yup. Main dining = early seating!

When you make your FE deliveries, just try to keep in mind the time of day. It's best to avoid leaving your gifts in someone's FE for a long period of time because it's more likely someone will steal the gifts. :sad2:

You definitely don't need to deliver something every day! :)

As for tagging someone, I have no idea! :confused3

Paula & Rebecca

Thanks for the :welcome: We are just so glad to be able to come on this cruise.

We took a 4 night Wonder cruise last December. Our favorite part was just being there! We planned for months and there were so many things to do. On this cruise, we are looking forward taking it a little more easier and relax...not try to do everything because we can't. We want to use the pool and hot tub this time!

We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary last cruise and did the couple's massage...aaaahhhhh wish I could do that again. Because we booked the romance package, we also had the Tropical Rainforest Pass at the Vista Spa & Salon, but we were so busy that we didn't use one minute of it:rotfl:

I am excited about the FE. We had 5 participating families on our last cruise. While it was small, it was very fun. The gifts/trinkets and candy were fun finds for the kids (and us adults). Even though there we only 5 of us participating, you would have thought there were 20. We all took care of each other and it was a blast.

All the Palo reservations were full when we booked so I'll keep checking to see if something opens up and check at the port when checking in. We are second seating for dinner, waitlisted for first seating. I might keep 2nd seating as we are from CA so we are use to eating 8-9:00 EST and at the end of April, it should just start getting dark about that time.

It will be fun to have a group picture. Our girls are so excited. Laura & Michelle loved the clubs and kids make friends very easily. Another thing I'm looking forward to...meeting everyone on the ship!

Hope you like our new avitar It was taken at the GF at Chrismastime.

Thanks for all the great info Rebecca

WOW...time is growing short and I am just now getting to the boards to check out our cruise. We booked last year but as with everyone life is just to busy to spend much time planning. Well...game on now and our list of packing and purchasing is in full swing. I better be ready as DW and I are celebrating the big 30 on this our 5th DCL adventure. It will be our first 7 day cruise though.

We will be spending a week at OKW before the cruise to get in full relaxation mode. Some pool and park time is all I can think about right now...oh...and my favorite deck chair on board!!!

If you see a 50ish guy with the WAKE (Go DEACS!) hat on, iPod plugged in and snoring in a chair just give me a kick and I will be sociable.

Welcome back! :wave2:

I stayed at Old Key West during my first WDW trip and loved it! At the time I was living in an apartment in Los Angeles and the 1 bedroom suite at Old Key West was larger than our apartment!!

Welcome to all the newcomers!

Sandy --- :flower3: :flower3:

As for the question of the week: The only other dcl cruise we've been on was a 4 day and it went by WAY TOO fast! We really enjoyed Castaway Cay and are excited to be stopping there again.

Does anyone know if Day 4 is the pirate party night?

I'm going to be bummed if it is b/c that was the only night open for Palo when I made our reservation. I don't really want to wear our pirate gear on our one night at Palo...I guess we could always go change after dinner.

In the past we have always enjoyed CC and on one occasion were not able to dock so that was a real let down especially since it was our kids first cruise. We like the shelter of the family beach but the seclusion of the adult beach.

A surprise has been the relaxation of going to the Rainforest Spa late in the afternoon prior to dinner. It really sets the tone.

As a DVC member one of the best experiences was a member cruise as so many people had so much to share and everyone had such a good time.

Good afternoon one and all !

I'm back home :goodvibes although I am at home today with a fever and bad cough :sad2:

adnil530: welcome to the boards and the fe club :dance3: and welcome to others who may have joined the group recently.

I think my favorite part of the cruise is the pampered feeling I get. I love all of the small touches that you receive while onboard. :woohoo: :woohoo:

since i may have confused myself last time I counted the fish extender list, Rebecca is going to check it for me :worship: :worship: and then I'll publish it again.

Earlier someone shared the following info on requesting dinner mates:
"Absolutely you can hook up with people, even from this board. You see who you want to hook up with and then, through emailing each other, you need (I think), reservation numbers of each family that wants to hook up for dinner, and call DCL to group together. Last DISBOARD group, we were so large, that we were not able to get one table together, but were in the same area."
So those wanting to try to request a table or two close to each other, send me a pm with the info.

Later,
Janie

Janie sending you some pixie dust to help you get over the cold
I sent you a PM about dinner; my first one so let me know if you get it or if you need more info.
Sure is great having so many experienced happy people around
Welcome to all the newcomers.
We got a book from DCL today with a lot of info about the cruise. It is just like magic

My daughter and I went FE shopping today and got lots of goodies for our FE. :cheer2: We put it together this afternoon w/ lots of iron-ons, some fun ribbon, and a tiny bit of sewing from things we cut from a bandana. The only problem is that I think it's too wide - but oh well - it will just have to work....other than being too wide, I really like the way it turned out.

Hi Jen:wave2: I'm Linda and we are on this cruise also.

That is a nice FE! Do you lift the flap to put items into it? I love the big Mickey face and the family name across it. I'm thinking all kinds of things you can do with those hooks! Our FE has flaps you need to lift up & put the items into the pocket and the pocket is behind the FE. It kinda hides the items from passerbys. That said, we had a family on our last cruise who did not take the items out of their FE the entire time we were on the ship...they just let them accumulate and stuff was flowing out. I never saw any items missing from it as we all had similar items. But we did zip tie our FE to our Fish so it didn't walk away.

We also had a lot of magnets on our door, it was early December, my daughter's birthday and our anniversary, so there were lots of magnets. I only "lost" a few of them that were on the lower portion of the door, right around toddler level. We didn't mind as we had put magnets on the back of a 9 piece Disney foam rubber puzzle set from the $ store and put it down that low so that small kids could "put the puzzle" together and apparently a few toddlers walked away with a few of the pieces. I hope they enjoyed them and I'll probably do it again this trip. There weren't many DisBoard members on that cruise and we got comments from more than a few people that enjoyed looking at the door decorations and the FE's.

Again, nice job on the FE:banana:

Linda

WoW! What a great fish extender :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I haven't made ours yet, but between you and Linda my wheels are turning. I have the stuff to make it - now I may change my idea :rotfl: :rotfl:

Happy st. Patty's day everyone!!:dance3: :cheer2:

We were on a 3 day in 2005- way to short.... My favorite thing- relaxing with my family:thumbsup2 '

My kids favorite... hair braiding and room service!:thumbsup2

Oh my goodness Linda, I am so impressed with your FE it truly is a work of art
Ours looks like something 3 year olds did, but we love it. DH even made his own pocket.. I think I will add some buttons and elastic to secure the pockets.
Ole Ole

Hi Linda,

No, no flap on this one - that is a great idea though - wish I could add one to protect the items inside better from wandering fingers :sad2: I added our name to it (even though I was a little leery of doing so) to hopefully deter any theft - but we'll see. I'm going to use a zip tie somehow as well to try to secure it better.

Jen

HI all - - Thought I'd answer the latest questions. I've been on 2 Dis cruises. One was in 2005 with DH -- it was a 4 day - our first cruise ever - and it was the Ebert and Roper movie cruise. It was fun but a lot of people on it were not real Disney fans, but more movie fans. We are both. There were movies going on which interrupted other plans but we had paid extra to do the movie part and meet Ebert and Roper so we did that. The last day I forgot to take my dramamine and got seasick that night.
On that note -- I find if I take the non drowsy dramamine an hour before the ship leaves and then every day thereafter I am fine. On my second cruise which was a 7 day eastern caribbean cruise with my sister in 2006 - we had the worst ever first night with rough seas and hardly anyone was in the dining room - - I was fine . Keep it in mind if you have never cruised before and wonder about seasickness.
I just love the relaxation of the ship and the feeling that you can do nothing or lots of activities - whatever your mood. We love Palos very much and the shows and clubs and -- well...........can you tell - I like Disney cruises. I adore the spa!:woohoo:

Queen2 mentioned having a group name - - the idea was Tortula Pirates - - any imput on that for her?

Thanks for all your kind wishes. I need it because I don't want anything to happen to keep me from this cruise. We missed the cruise last year to celebrate our 10th anniversary and my birthday (it's my 58th this year the day before the cruise so I'll be celebrating on the airplane :) ). We had a death in the family a few days before we were supposed to leave last year. So we rescheduled for this year and I refuse to let anything happen. We have a week at Disney afterwards too -- we need this vacation so thanks again for your kind sprinkles of Pdust.:flower3:
