Cast of characters, me 40, DH 38, DS 6 1/2 and DS 2 1/2. First Disney cruise.
This was our day in Cozumel. We ate at Lumieres' for breakfast, very good. Then it was off the ship and into Mexico. The plan was to play mini golf at Sally's and then taxi to Mr. Sanchos beach club. This was more difficult that I expected. I first asked a few people where was Sally's mini golf. They didn't know what I was talking about. Sally's is about 6 blocks down the waterfront and then 4 blocks inland. It became obvious to me that nobody wanted us to leave the mall because they wanted us to shop there! Finally, we start walking far enough that we get some correct info and still we missed it and had to backtrack. It was worth it though because it was really tropical, and beautiful and my son loves to mini-golf. Sally mentioned that it is a scam how the locals don't want to direct you to the mini golf. I had a sangria and the boys had cold drinks. It was another very hot day. We then walked a few blocks and got a taxi for Mr. Sanchos. My 2 1/2 yr old had had enough of the heat at this point and was not happy during the hot cab ride. God bless the woman who drove us, because we hit traffic and it wasn't too pleasant. We get to Mr. Sanchos, free admission, very nice entrance with venders and parrots, restaurant and bar. We go straight to the restaurant to eat, the waiter is on Mexico time and we are impatient, but once we get drinks and food, all is well. Afterward, we all get into the crystal blue water and start laughing about how the day is going. I had a few cheap blow up floats for the kids and DS 6 1/2 is loving his because it is new and has Spongbob on it. I blow up a beach ball and we watch it go right out to sea! OK, learned a lesson there. DH and I are enjoying beers as we play with the kids, and the bar there has study swings all around it rather than barstools. It is so different that I have to sit in one for a picture. We have a wonderful beach day there and end it with some ice cream on a stick, they had all the regular kind that we see here in the U.S.
Back on the ship it is tropical shirt night, and we all dress for it, then pose with the characters who are also in their floral shirts and Mexican sombreros. We had dinner at Parrot Cay, perfect for tropical night, and the Mariachi band from Cozumel played around the room for us. The "show" for that evening was the movie "Home on the Range" showing in the Walt Disney Theatre. I went up to Scoops to ask if we could have some M&M's for the show and they gave me a whole bag full! Wow!
The movie was pretty good, but my DS 2 1/2 didn't want to sit for all of it and he and I left to walk around the ship together. We did all stay awake for the Sail Away party, but after buying two glow light swords, we called it a night.
