4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

ARGHHH!!! HELP!!!
The Disney site crashed and then tells me that my reservation is unavailable!

Suggest you be patient and keep trying. I have been having trouble but after numerous tries, I can get back in and continue my shore excursion reservations. There is definitely something up with the site though.

It crashed on me too, but luckily I had all of our reservations made and confirmed. Hope they are still there when I can view again!

Good Luck, and make sure to save as you are going!

Hope you got the issues resolved and everything booked. I just finished and we got all our selections. The site was having trouble. Maybe overload from so many on at midnight EST to do these reservations for shore excursions?

I'm hoping you were able to get past your system issues with Disney site and get what you were looking to.

One more thing...I think it is bit strange that Disney will not let you book two excursions on the same day. I was trying to book the Cirque Terre Boat trip for the morning, done by 1 pm, and then the 1/2 day Pisa tour starting at 1:30 pm, and it kept telling me it was a conflict. I guess they think it is too close.:sad2:

Did anyone book shore excursions in Barcelona? I like the full day Monsterrat one but since we aren't staying at a hotel that we booked through Disney (or one on their list of hotels) wasn't sure how that would work to try to book through them.

We are staying in Barcelona before and after the cruise and I figured we could do that as a day trip ourselves. We found a hotel in downtown Barcelona that has a suite that 4 of us can stay in at a much cheaper rate than anything we found Disney quoted so opted this route.

If anyone has an opinion on this or using Disney for shore excursions day of sail or day of returning, would be interested in any feedback on how that works with holding luggage, etc. or if this only works if you booked hotel stay through them.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if they don't let you book 2 or it really is too close and there could be a risk on return time of the morning tour that has them concerned for booking the afternoon one you picked.

I didn't realize they had 2 times on some of these tours until I booked the Imperial Town tour in Ajaccio and saw they had morning and afternoon times. Never occurred to me try to do 2 things though we have such long days for Tunis, Naples, Rome, La Spezia that we have shorter ones just before (in Malta and in Corsica) to try to give a shorter break to our girls. And in case of Malta, we picked a shorter one (Three Historic Cities and Dghajsa Boat Road) though both of my girls would actually like to do the trip to Gozo which is all day and just over 3 hours longer.

Well I'm still trying. All I want is to book Flounders and Palo. Glad I don't have to book excursions because at this rate I won't get to go on any!

I was looking to do a Disney excursion on the 24th as well (we are doing the TA B2B with the Med), but on the website it shows "no excursions available". I guess they don't do excursions on sail/arrival dates?!?!? :confused3

Has anyone filled out the guest documents yet? I was able to go in this morning to do this but I can't fill them out as they want what you are doing after the cruise and I have no way to put down right info unless it has a US address. We are staying at a hotel in Barcelona and the form seems to be geared to someone getting off ship in Florida. Not sure if its just me having issue. Guess I may have to call DCL later to discuss.

I am so frustrated!!!! ARGGHHH!!!!

Im glad I didn't stay up last night to book our excursions! :surfweb:

Waited until this am, and did get everything we wanted. :cool1: We are doing:

Blue Grotto
Pottery in Nabeul
Herculaneum
Classical Rome
Pisa
Highlights of Monaco and Top Car Museum

Eleasa

I would like to know that too...although I guess I'll just book an outside tour, since that does seem to be the case. Seems like they are missing out on some dollars!

Mr Rosen, we had the same issue. I entered my parents' address in Florida just to move things along, eventhough we don't touch foot in the US during this trip. I know Disney has to do this for US cruises, but one would think that they could switch this feature off for the European cruises. Boy, US Homeland Security wants to keep an eye on everyone!!! :)

Just a note that Mount Serrate is a good 45 minute to a hour(each way) outside Barcelona and a winding mountain road to boot. We did that trip last time on Royal Carribean and it was beautiful and well worth the trip. The black Madonna is amazing as well as the monestory built hundreds of years ago into the mountain. WE had a delicious meal and local wine that was quite memorable. Something you should definatly see.

Managed to book all the excursions I wanted and Palo dinner, but the brunch and tea is showing as completely unavailable (i.e. it is shaded-out). Has anyone else got this? I'd assume that the bruch and tea will be happening on the cruise given its length?

Same thing happened on my last one...there was plenty of availability for brunch (high tea wasn't offered) once onboard. Not so for dinner, trying to get in for dinner was a challenge.

I only booked excursions when I signed in at midnight but when I was on the site from Midnight to 1AM, I found the brunch/tea grayed out for Paloand only the dinner available at Palo and wondered why. I didn't book anything at Palo as I'm undecided on doing a meal with my kids on the cruise.

Fortunately, I did get all the port excursions that we wanted to book.

Thanks for suggestion. I could just put my home address as eventually we do get back to our home in US. I did contact Disney today about the problem. When I'm in entering the guest information form, instead of saying I'm doing other or hotel and not being able to enter information properly since hotel isn't a US hotel, suggestion from Disney on how to do this is -
Please select ‘Traveling to an Airport’, the departure airport and enter the date in which your flight leaves. After the information is entered, you will be able to complete the form.

I have not gone back in yet to fill out these guest information forms but obviously could pick from either approach to complete. However, I do believe this form is setup for US cruises.

You've all managed to get further than me! All I've got since 630am this moring is a message that the website is experiencing difficulties, please call xxxxx sorry for the inconvenience. Sigh...

Oh forgot to congratulate all who managed to book what they wanted!
