I have posted here and there for the last bit, but was not sure if I would be able to go, and then not sure if I would be able to stay to go on the Med. But, I am officially on this cruise now. Just booked my airfare home on May 5, so I better be. I will be on the TA over as well, but my DH and DS will leave, and I will stay to do the Med after. Don't know how that will work out since I am such a big baby with loneliness.

I have been looking at excursion things today, and it is so exciting! Definitely more intensive and requires more planning and preparation than the TA! But all in a fun and good way...just time consuming!

This is my first time posting -- but I thought I would chime in about what is needed in Tunisia. According to the Dept. of State website, all you need is a valid passport, a visa is not needed.

"ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A passport is required. For U.S. passport holders, a visa is not necessary for stays of up to four months; however, a residence permit is needed for longer stays."

Since I am a first time poster, I can't post any URLs, but you can find this info and more on travel (dot) state (dot) gov. When you get to the site, click International Travel on the top. Then click on Africa on the map, and select Tunisia.

I hope that helps with any of your questions.

We have booked private tours for all 3 Italy ports. The Naples tour will tour Pompeii and the Amalfi coast. The Civitavecchia tour will visit Rome and the Vatican. La Spezia will visit Pisa and Florence. The tours will have a guide and up to 7 tourists. Right now, we have 2 spaces available for Naples and Civitavecchia and 3 for La Spezia. The cost will be shared evenly based on the number touring. If we have 7 on each tour, the cost will be about $140 or less per person. Meals and admission tickets are not included in the price nor is a guide at Pompeii since they require only local guides. A licensed Vatican tour guide is included in the price.

A Mercedes van that seats up to 7 tourists is used and the tour guide/driver speaks English. The tour company that we are using gets rave reviews on Trip Advisor. The tours should be more complete, more personal, and less expensive than those offered through Disney.

If anyone is interested in possibly joining us, please respond to this post (it won't let me include an email address since I am a newbie) and I will provide the info you need.

I just got off the phone with Disney who claim that it is only necessary that the passports not expire until 3 months after you return. Yay!!!! One less thing to do.

We'll actually be covering it for the site - so it's kind of a 'working cruise' for us, but somehow we'll muddle thru The timing is great on this as my partner, Walter, is turning 50 just before we leave. He better remember this when my 50th rolls around

If enough people are interested, I'd be interested in throwing a party on the ship for all the DIS'ers and their friends who'll be joining us. If it's something you'd be interested in, just post here so I can get an idea of how many will join us and we'll set it up.

We are thinking about going on this cruise and we're trying to get an idea of the cost of flights but we need to know when we have to be on board.
We are hoping to get an early morning flight from the UK (arrive at BCN 10.35am) and in case of delays we want to know that we would still have enough time to get on board the ship before it leaves.

On the booklet we just received from Disney they recommended the latest arrival flight of 2:45pm. It was mentioned earlier in the thread, I think the ship doesn't leave until 9 or 10pm?

Disney recommends that the latest you arrive in Barcelona is 2:45pm. We have a flight leaving Heathrow at 9:20 that arrives BCN at 12:20. From what I have learned is that you should check in by 4pm (16:00) at the port. However, if you're later than that - you can still check-in, you'll just have to do it at guest services on the ship. The ship does not leave port until later that night.

Welcome to all the new cruisers. We've had sporadic internet due to snow, so just a quick hello and say three of us are in for the party, unless kids aren't invited, then just one.

Thanks for the info on Tunisia. I figured it would be like that. Morocco works the same way: except it's just three months free entry.

I'll update roll call in the morning when connectivitiy issues are settled.

I wanted to get some more info. about the tours you guys have booked. My travel party consists of myself and DH (2). I am just too overwhelmed to research but would appreciate exploring the tours you've booked. Totally out of my comfort zone as I have never been to Europe so thanks to ALL who are doing the work and sharing.
