We are looking to go from 4/19 to 4/24 and want to stay across the street. Is there something going on in Disney that the rooms are full?

Fwiw the DelSol appears to have rooms available for those dates, however the prices are higher than usual so there must be something going on that week. The only thing I can see is Dapper Day but I don't know if that alone causes a spike in demand.

Dapper Day would not fill rooms for a week. It’s a one day/weekend largely locals thing.

We stay at Hilton properties and I just checked the app and nothing is sold out or particularly expensive given that it is less than 30 days out and Spring. Too late for Spring Break, local schools are not out for anything. Maybe try breaking it down and see if it is a specific date (Saturday more likely) that is sold out? The rate at the Hilton is actually great, not across the street but really close.

I was looking at Park Vue, Tropicana and Best Western.
In my experience this close to your dates those are often always sold out, even during non peak season.
Even after I book I keep checking rates for the heck of it and rarely see those listed a month out.

That is what I was afraid of. Since we are coming from the East coast and plan on spending a few days in Las Vegas first, we are at the mercy of the airlines. Trying to get airfare to LV then to Santa Ana and then back to Philly makes planning to far out to be impossible unless I want to pay top dollar for flights that aren't direct.

Can you suggest a hotel that is close like the others I listed?

The other ones in that same area (directly across from the resort entrance) are the Desert Inn and Suites, the Del Sol and the Camelot Inn. I know the Del Sol has rooms I haven't checked the others.

Those are also fairly small hotels, they don’t have hundreds and hundreds of rooms like the DLR hotels, so they fill faster and fill first. Maybe try Howard Johnson, it is a short walk. All else fails there is an ART stop in front of the Hilton and you could walk it if you are up for it.

The Candy Cane Inn! I checked and there is still premium rooms available. The prem rooms come with breakfast delivered to your room AND late checkout. The hotel is up against Disney's Cars Land so EASY walk. It features free parking, free breakfast and a shuttle should you not want to walk the 200 yards to the park.
Go read a few reviews, it's a well loved favorite.

So I did a quick check and it looks like DelSol is your best bet if you want to stay directly across the street. You may have more luck further down Harbor (HoJo, Anaheim Inn, etc.)

Howard Johnson across the street has a few rooms available also. Its about a 10 minute walk. They accept AAA discounts as well.

We are going that weekend and we have a knack for finding the random day CA has off school, so I am sure there is something happening! :rotfl:

Just out of curiosity what do consider "across the street?" There are probably hotels like he HoJo that are within walking distance (0.5 mile) and are across Harbor but maybe not directly across like the ones you are looking at. If that distance is ok with you then I would definitely consider the HoJo, I have stayed there and liked it and it has a good rep) if not then it looks like Del Sol is your only option (which I also like).

Have you tried calling? We often stay at the Tropicana and I've gotten a room by calling when it appears sold out online.

Yes to this! That's how I used to get my suite at Park Vue as well--they can work miracles and find rooms if you call the hotel directly :)

Why not check out dapperdays.com and see if there are rooms still available on site? Dressing up for a nice meal in the parks is fun, plus, it is the easiest way to get a nice family picture!

Changed our dates to the following week and booked at Park Vue Inn. Seems there wasn't much available for those dates either. The lady at Tropicana told me that there were groups staying at that resort. We stayed at ASSp at Disneyworld in January when the cheerleading competition was going on. Fortunately we checked in with only 1 more day of competition left. Hope to never stay where they are again.
