We have been on the 3 & 4 day cruises, but this was our first 7 day. It was also our first time booking a cruise using our DVC points.
Saturday 4/17
Got to breakfast at 8:00 and said our good-byes. Disembarkation was easy, and we were waiting for our Budget shuttle in no time. We picked up an Explorer and began our drive back down to Fort Lauderdale. Surprisingly, the drive seem to pass quickly even though it was 3 1/2 hours. We were pretty early as our flight didn't leave until 7:45 pm. We had lunch and drove around A1A for a while. It was pretty crowded but very entertaining as far as people watching goes. I said to DH, "Honey, I don't think we're in Disney anymore!". Our flight home was fine, and we were back in our home by midnight.
Final thoughts:
On overpacking: guilty. I tried not to but did anyway. I packed blue jeans for everyone which no one wore. I wore 5 of the 8 pairs of shoes we brought. I packed 3 bathing suits each for the boys, though they each wore 2. I did wear all 3 of my suits. I also brought home various t-shirts, dinner pants and polo style shirts that went unworn.
On DISmeets: Great fun! I really think that this made our adult evenings even more fun than if it were just DH and I at the clubs. Thanks again to LeiLani for getting us all together! For any of you reading this report, it was so nice meeting all of you!
On rebooking: Many DISers rebooked for the Thanksgiving 2005 cruise, but we did not. I think we might cruise again in the spring of 2006. DH doesn't think so but he is outnumbered. It's not that he didn't have fun; he had a GREAT time, he just wants to see other places.
On kids clubs: My boys did not participate other than the first night. They kept themselves busy doing other things but really weren't into the clubs. If we do sail again in 2006, they will both be old enough for the Stack and may spend more time there. It doesn't matter to me as long as they were having fun and behaving appropriately.
This was one of our best family trips we have done. I would be happy to answer any questions if you have them!
