Ok Lanyard team has completed our tasks of planning, we will be ordering the lanyards this week!

Do we share the color or do you want it to be a surprise? ;)

Because of the great price breaks when you order a certain amount we will have many extra lanyards for any and all new members who join us - clear up to the day we sail. This also means that those of you who don't think you will wear one but want one for a keepsake - we have plenty :) so do not be shy.

We have a great team and remember this is a gift from the FE team to all Dis members who we have on the cruiser list.

Lanyard team members I sent out an email with final information and my address to send checks to, if you did not get this please EMAIL me at

akblair@charter.net

and I will send it to you again.

Thanks again everyone! Enjoy your gift!

Krisann

Everyone, sorry I have been away from the boards for the last few days. We had to put our dog to sleep, and it has devastated me for a few days.
I'm sorry to hear the sad news.

Woody

Have the day off today for President's day no snow yet:thumbsup2 We should see 6 to 8 inches by morning placed on top of 25 plus this is going to be yet another messy day!

Picked up dry cleaning, starting packing and purchased 1/2 of the FE's gift. Now I just have to get DH to put his stuff together. :cool1:

I thought you were a female, until someone referred to you otherwise. Glad that's straightened out.

And when you read it again, it is another chuckler.

Where in Alabama?

I was born at Camp Rucker (now Fort Rucker) just before the end of WWII.

I was thinking we should have our own disboards singles meet and greet. Not sure when a good time would be, but I think it would be fun.

On a related topic ... I think I had asked (a while ago) if there was support from DISboards, to ask if we could have a private meet-n-greet with DCL staff. If so, it would have to be at a time and place of THEIR convenience, if available. I know other cruise lines have met with groups from Cruise Critic. Some cruise lines have provided lite fare and / or refreshments ... but I would not expect anything. If nothing else ... just a chance to mingle, and participate in friendly discussion with the men and women in whites, who are often running around with hoards of tasks on their agenda.
:worship:

Though I've been on many DCL cruises, I don't know that I have ever participated in a DCL meet-n-greet through DISboards. Does anyone have any input on something like this? Has DCL participated in something like this before? Is there interest? Good idea, bad idea? We've got SIX DAYS of stuff to do ... so why not another meet-n-greet? YES/NO?
popcorn::

I'm curious. Is this a cougar cruise?
--GOSH, I HOPE SO!

As a child, whenever I rode the "whirly-bird". I would invariably turn green, and often threw up. When I did "Mission Space" at EPCOT, I came off feeling green at the gills. I need to sit in the front seat when riding in minivans/vans or feel queasy. Anything with centrifugal force is nauseating. Consecutive rides on the Himalayan ride in Animal Kingdom did a number on me. Any forward-pitching roller coaster does me in...

---NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT sit in front of Aunt Lynne in the Walt Disney Theatre!

I just found this site and thread so forgive any newbee mistakes... This is my first disney cruise and first cruise with children. Any advise or tips? I did book some time in the nursery, I was told it could book early.

I'm new to the boards. So sorry to suddenly just to post here. But I'm on the EBTA, too. I've read that DCL is giving out $100 per person extra OBC to the Med, Baltic and Westbound transatlantic. Does anybody know if this applies to the EBTA as well?

We have 4 cabins booked since this sailing first opened. And its already disappointing that we couldn't get a refund when the cat 12gty dropped to just $699.

:welcome: dster113 and smartpeach!

Remember to read the first 10-15 posts on page 1 & 2 of this thread. It contains a WEALTH of information gathered by various guests ... and is often updated on a regular basis! Don't forget about travel insurance!

As for $699 and OBC ... I was under the impression that many staterooms were getting the $100 OBC, IF they booked prior to a certain date in November 2009. If you booked through a Travel Agent - give them a call - otherwise, call DCL.

I'll ask my aunt how she feels about me posting a pic of her on here and if she's fine with it put one from our last cruise otherwise I'll post one of me at Disneyland last New Year's.

-- Please tell your Aunt that we will EVENTUALLY see what she looks like. However, if we can see a picture of her in advance, we will KNOW who we are looking at, when we see her!

:confused3 Dumb, newbie question......what do you mean by the "intimadate the tourist"? We were planing on doing it with 8 yr DS, maybe we should reconsider?!?

Thanks
Eleasa

Hi Eleasa - I don't necessarily mean to discourage you. I've just read that the drivers are pretty aggressive in asking for tips and having you buy their official photos. That type of situation makes me uncomfortable (unable to relax), but for many others, it's just par for the course in being a tourist. btw, I have two boys, 7 and 3, and we're travelling with family with similar aged kids - we'll be seeing you at the kids' clubs!

Krisann,
I did not get the email regarding the Lanyard Team information. If you could resend it, or just PM it to me that would be great. Thanks.

Ok so here is an update on Bunco!

I just printed out all of the scorecards. I also have tally pads, bell and fuzzy dice. I have 8 sets of dice. Right now with the way the list looks we need at least 9 sets and probably will need more. I recall someone mentioning that they can also bring dice for Bunco. We will also need pens. I wonder if DCL would provide their pens?!?!?!?

If anyone else is interested in playing please post! Bunco is going to be great with this group!!!

I think that the cost to play should be $5. It will make it so much easier to hand out monetary prizes vs buying gifts and bringing them.

Sounds good to me. Unless I had a massage scheduled or something I'd be willing to go to something like that. popcorn::

Okay, I am caught up to page 108 of this thread. still working on reading the rest, but dinner must be made!

Looking for some opinions please...

We are trying to decide which park to go to on Friday before the cruise. We can only go one day so trying to make the best decision possible.

We have ruled out the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. No MK bc we go to DL all of the time and they are similar. NO to HS bc there is not as much for our younger DD.

So we are down to Epcot or Animal Kingdom. Can anyone tell me why or why not they would pick one of those two parks. They both have stuff we like.

Thanks for any input/feedback!

I'm thinking Epcot - mostly due to the crowds that will be there those days. Since it's Easter week, there will be more people in the parks. b/c of the size, Epcot typically does a better job of absorbing massive crowds than AK does.

I am not the one doing the Question of the Day - but I have one:

Is there any item you will miss on the cruise that you normally have at home?

Krisann

a normal sized shower

One week from today we will be sailing on the Sapphire Princess. So we will be packing this weekend.

This will be our first time on Princess. We're looking forward to it.

Woody

How was your cruise Woody?

Is anyone staying near DW the night of the 9th? We are at the All Star Sport Resort that night and taking the DCL transfer to the port the next day.

Eleasa

We are staying at the Movies resort on the 9th.

Yeah, you got the gist of it! I brought it up, so I guess I'm the de facto organizer.

Which means I need to start asking people who wants to play and let me have your stateroom #s. AFTER I clean out my PM box...:rotfl:

We'll have to have several Mickey Tags if everyone wants in. We'll also have to figure out how to handle GTY staterooms if people are not assigned by a certain date...

Now I'm getting a headache... :cool2:

Mickey tag sounds fun. Count us in...we are currently a GTY also

I'll take your porthole! :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: This will be my first time sailing without an outside view and I'm worried about how I'll cope. I'm cat 12 GTY...

We've done verandahs & insides and though I love a verandah, I sleep better in an inside cabin. total darkness = coma

---Once you get a dose of Disney, I doubt you will ever go back to Carnival (I know we'll never do Carnival again). Disney is muchmore money, but you get what you pay for. I saw one cruise line introduce a new ship with a limited amount of cabins priced for solo passengers. Unfortunately, they're solo-sized at only 100 square feet!
--Steven Long

We've been on all kinds of cruises from luxury lines to NCL and we still cruise Carnival occaisionally...if you cruise a lot you could be pretty limited to the DCL itineraries since there's only 2 ships.

Welcome back!

Everyone, sorry I have been away from the boards for the last few days. We had to put our dog to sleep, and it has devastated me for a few days. But I am back and ready to roll (still hard to get back excited about things, but trying!)!

Final reminder about that the Secret Mickey questionnaires are due by today. I will get a list out of those I have received from so that everyone can verify that they sent it.
Thanks!

Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear of your news. My dog is like my child and I don't know how I'll deal w/ that when/if it comes along in the future. Big hugs from me & prayers for your peace of mind.

I have signed up for both SM and FE. I know what an FE is, in terms of the thing that hangs on the door, but what is the difference in what we do? SMs you have a secret pal and prepare a gift/goodie bag for them for about $25, right? Do we do gifts for everyone on the FE list for the FEs?

Sorry for the newbie question, but I have read a lot of the posts and am still not clear, but they both sound fun. I just don't want to disappoint anyone.

Don't worry...you're not the only newbie with the same question. I missed the FE but am looking forward to the SM. Even hubby is excited! I, too, would like more ideas on the SM from the board's pros. Do the gifts go in the FEs? I always go overboard on these things, so examples would be appreciated.

Welcome back!

So sorry to hear about your loss. We've been in the same situation before, and it's like losing part of your family. Our condolences.

Has anyone read the thread in the regular Dis cruise board section about people getting 100 OBC for each person in their party on the WB TA. Anyone on this cruise get anything like this?

Michelle,
So very sorry for your loss. It really is like losing a member of the family. Take care, Tricia

Oh! I had visions of locals throwing tomatoes at us as we barrel down the hill. :rotfl:

Great to hear about more kids in DS's age range. Raine already found an email penpal here, and they are planning on bringing their Pokemon cards and doing battles when they meet. Ah Pokemon..........the ultimate equalizer. ;)

Definitely see you at the clubs! :thumbsup2

I was born at Camp Rucker (now Fort Rucker) just before the end of WWII.

My late BIL grew up in Enterprise (age 5 on); his father was an officer in the helicopter training program. My sister's MIL and SIL still live there.

My dad traveled down there many times on business - as a civilian government engineer, he designed mutli-launch rockets for the Army.

Please add us to the group for Bunco. There are 4 of us - Staci, Rory (Jr), Jay, and Rory (Sr).

How many pens will be needed? Just one per group? Please don't ask how I came about the pens (no worries, it was all legal, just a long, pointless story that left me with the pens), but I have a small stash of Disney World Resort pens (plain black ones with silver text). I'm HAPPY to donate the pens, I just have no need for them.

My mother-in-law was wondering if anyone was planning to get together to play bridge on the cruise. I've flat out refused to ever play bridge with the family again (or anyone else) after a disasterous attempt to teach me the rules (apparently it matters who teaches you as to how you plan this game??), but she just loves playing bridge. I told her I'd ask. I don't recall if Disney coordinates a time for folks to play bridge - I'm not sure I would have noticed if they did, except maybe to avoid that area on the ship...

Thanks!
Staci

Why do they get the free pass? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Are we going to raid their room? or just treat them to a chivaree!!:lmao:

LOL...

"A chivaree is a noisy, mock-serenade to newlyweds, followed by a party. Newlyweds are not properly accepted as a married couple until they have taken part in their chivaree." :rotfl:

We'll take the hall pass. Why, we need time to totally figure out what's written in the sky during The Lion King. :bride: ;)
Lionkg2.jpg

Some of the other adult couples will need the hall pass too...
14 days is a Looooooong time.
I wouldn't count out those cougars either!
