Cougar—a woman over 40[4] who sexually pursues younger men, typically more than eight years her junior.[5] The origin of the word is debated; however, it is thought to have first appeared in print on the Canadian dating website Cougardate.com[6] and has been used in TV series, advertising and film. The 2007 film Cougar Club was dedicated to the subject and in Spring 2009 TV Land aired a reality show called The Cougar. A new show called Cougar Town, explores the difficulty and stigma of many so-called "Cougars".

My lack of TV savy is sure apparent here. :sad2: Sorry for dragging this on. I have never heard of it before and had no idea. Thanks.

The show Cougar Town cracks me up :rotfl2: I love it

I just found this site and thread so forgive any newbee mistakes...
I have sent Michelle my family info for the secret Mickey, I love the idea.

My husband will not be able to make the trip so I will be traveling with my mother. I will also be with my 5 year old son and 23 month old daughter.
This is my first disney cruise and first cruise with children.

Any advise or tips? I did book some time in the nursery, I was told it could book early.

Can't wait!:cheer2:

Sadly just realized that a man eight years younger than me....is nowhere near YOUNG. :sad2:

I think ever year a woman is over forty, they have to add a year to the age difference. Hence (I love saying 'hence'), a woman of 50 would have to be with a man 18 years younger! :lmao:Hence (again) no man over 32 would be considered 'prey'.

welcome!

I've just spent an unconscionable amount of time putting together an excel spreadsheet with all the info on fe-ers from Lynne's website, and the 1sat page of this thread. It is complete as far as I know.... I still need first names for:

Carla: 1A DIS NAME?
linac: 2A, 2C (DD tween and DD tween) need kids names
friends of Michelle2: 2A, 3C (DD11, DD9 and DD6) need names
mommyto3princesses: 2A, 3C (DD7, DD5 and DD3) need namesd
bekaah: 2A need name

If anyone could help me with any of these, I'd be grateful as a component of my FE involves first names.

If anyone wants to see what I've done (I'm not vouching for all its info, you understand) just let me know.
Thanks,
Ann

SHOOT! Guess I should have asked the question BEFORE starting to make it! :lmao:

This is why you join the DISboard, to help you overplan.

...My aunt and I will be going on this cruise and we are very excited about it. ...

:yay: Welcome - and you've been booked since October 2008?

...Has there been anymore talk of a meet at the MCO hotel? ... My flight comes in at 5 something on Friday night...

We also will be arriving from San Diego at 5:30 on Friday evening and staying at the MCO hotel. ...I don't know too much about this hotel, but maybe we can meet at one of the restaurants.

Heather & Aunt, meet Ray & Barbara. That was your introduction. Now when you meet, you won't be talking to strangers.

Are you both talking about the Hyatt in MCO? You'll have the entire airport, then, won't you (well, outside security).

I have removed from the website the names of those staying at the various hotels at MCO & in Port Canaveral (for security reasons). But we'll get you all talking, so you can plan something.

We heard many good things about Princess, so we had high expectations. Our expectations were met....

That sounds wonderful! What a way to have a first cruise with a company.

Happy Valentine's Day:love: Just wanted to say hi...

...My husband will not be able to make the trip so I will be traveling with my mother. I will also be with my 5 year old son and 23 month old daughter....

Do you want to be included in our crazy - I mean happy - bunch on our website? and thereby be recognized and welcomed by us on the ship?

If so, share with us your name, home town, cabin # (or GTY) and Main or Late dining (we have an external website and onboard, we'll distribute "mini-Navigators" with DISboard-pertinent information.

And ask any questions you need to. I think that newbie DisneyHeather has the freshest memory of what has been asked and answered since in one day she read nearly the entire epic of what is our thread.

I've been reading about the toboggan/sledge rides in Madeira - it sounds like it might be fun for the kids, but it almost seems like the 'intimidate the tourist' factor is really high too. Do you think it is worth the hassling?

Also, since we're in Madeira on a Sunday, Blandy's is not open except of group reservations. Were people planning to do that?

Thank you!

More info to look up. Like what is Blandy's?

Don't forget the flower parade at 4 pm.

Hey All-
Gavin & I left yesterday for 10 days in Naples, FL....

That's two Gavin's onboard. The captain of the "Love Boat" was played by Gavin McLeod.

...I was thinking we should have our own disboards singles meet and greet. Not sure when a good time would be, but I think it would be fun.Kristi

It's call knitting group, book swap, BUNCO... do we really think it's fair to keep the married folks out of the fun?

I'm curious.

Is this a cougar cruise?

Woody

Again, this kept me laughing !

But seriously, it is.

We heard many good things about Princess, so we had high expectations. Our expectations were met.

Woody

Welcome back! Thanks for the info on Princess. When our princesses are older we'll probably try out a different cruise line.

We sailed on the Paul Gauguin in Tahiti before children and loved it.

...My last cruise on the first night we all got sick because the ship was rocking pretty bad. I bought some bands and we took motion sick pills the rest of the cruise. This time I plan to use the bands and am hoping to not need the pills if I can avoid it as they make me tired.

What other things do you guys do to help with the motion sickness? :cheer2:

I'll give my advice on this.

As a child, whenever I rode the "whirly-bird" backyard ride (possibly before your time) [similar to this but you faced inward and used your hands & feet in a pumping motion to make it go around]

whirly-bird-49.jpg

I would invariably turn green, and often threw up.

When I did "Mission Space" at EPCOT, I came off feeling green at the gills.

I need to sit in the front seat when riding in minivans/vans or feel queasy.

Anything with centrifugal force is nauseating.

I can ride the Aerosmith Rockin Roller Coaster and the Tower of Terror with no motion sickness. Consecutive rides on the Himalayan ride in Animal Kingdom did a number on me. Any forward-pitching roller coaster does me in.

3 Disney cruises - 1st one, less-drowsy Dramamine. Mid-way through dinner on Night 1, I was back to the room, lying down, feeling the waves, trying to feel normal. Queasy. Very dried out through the 3-night cruise (part of the anti-cholinergic effect). And sleepy. It took days after the cruise to clear my system.

3rd cruise - 7 nights - wore the Scopalamine patch. I knew the boat was rocking - I could feel the up and down, but my gut didn't react. I was able to carry on. And we didn't get to do several ports due to high seas. The medicine in the patch is targeted to the "nausea center" in the gut, not the center in the brain controlling all the other factors - NO drowsiness. Requires a prescription. I've got mine already.

I do wear the wrist bands and drink ginger ale - but they just don't cut it for me.

You've got to do what works for you, though. If there's a chance you'll need it, the patch is good for 3 days and there won't be a CVS/Rite-Aid/Walgreen's/Long's Drugs anywhere in site for 6 days in a row - they will have the bands and OTC meds for sale onboard, but no Rx meds.

(I got a little queasy just thinking about bobbing around on a ship!)

Funny you should mention the "Love Boat."

On our Princess cruise, they showed "Love Boat" reruns on TV. That was a blast from the past. The show was based on the Pacific Princess.

"The show was based on the Pacific Princess." I just told my brother that last week.

Are you one to notice leftover cigarette smoke? If so, any problems with this in the state rooms or public areas?

Some tips on staying safe during your upcoming Cougar Cruise:

The cougar:

Is a capable stalk-and-ambush predator

- pencil in time at the fitness center to keep yourself in shape for trying (in vain) to outrun her

Prefers habitats with dense underbrush and rocky areas for stalking, but it can also live in open areas.

- Better to avoid areas with niches, nooks and crannies (Rockin' Bar D); however, even lounging by the pool can be deadly. Pretty much, you can't hide from her

Is a reclusive cat and usually avoids people

- Make a note of cruisers who are conspicuously absent (except for PrincessMonkey and Groom, who have a blanket hall pass for missing activities)

Is most active at dawn and dusk

- Get out there during bright sunlight

Like all cats, it is an obligate carnivore, feeding only on meat.

- Avoid the carving table, head for the salad bar

Adults meet only to mate

- If you're playing BUNCO, there won't be time for anything else

Is generally a solitary animal / one hunter

- If you see a bunch of us together, we're probably not hunting (we've just gotten our prey - or we're really not cougars)

Carla does not have a DIS name she is a friend of a Diser and while they are sharing a cabin, they are separate for the FE exchange.

Some people are not sharing their names for security reasons

Friends of Michelle2 do not have a DIS name but are participating

Make sure you compare your list from the website with the one on page one of the thread - lynne is still trying to get everything updated but the one on the first page is up to date.

Ok Lanyard team has completed our tasks of planning, we will be ordering the lanyards this week!

Do we share the color or do you want it to be a surprise? ;)

Because of the great price breaks when you order a certain amount we will have many extra lanyards for any and all new members who join us - clear up to the day we sail. This also means that those of you who don't think you will wear one but want one for a keepsake - we have plenty :) so do not be shy.

We have a great team and remember this is a gift from the FE team to all Dis members who we have on the cruiser list.

Lanyard team members I sent out an email with final information and my address to send checks to, if you did not get this please EMAIL me at

akblair@charter.net

and I will send it to you again.

Thanks again everyone! Enjoy your gift!
