Dee - do you think we can do a Lanyard team meeting in the chat room? Do you need to be there or can you show me how to do it? I would like to have one this week.

Krisann

I only have to be there if you expect troublemakers who need to be booted off the chat. I don't think that would be a problem.

The chat is set up so that people have to register on chatroll before they can join the chat. Registration is free. I can "meet you" in the chat room once you are logged on, and show you how to do things. Let me know when you want to do it. Send out a message for people to register before the chat.

great - can you send me the directions to get out there? If you do not want to do it here send me an email at akblair@charter.net

Thanks!

Hi all, a few days ago some folks were asking about wrinkle resistant shirts. JCPenneys has great shirts for men called super shirt. My DH has been wearing them for years. He travels all week and they are fantastic. For the ladies & gentlemen, eddie bauer has wonderful ones also. I will be wearing a few on the ship. Coldwater creek has some also. I'll be wearing those too. I used to like ironing but it didn't take me long to get over it.
Cheers, Jennifer

Can someone either point me to or list out the recommended tipping guidelines for this DCL cruise?

Also, any adv. or disadv. to tipping in cash vs. charging to credit card?

Thank you.

--DCL suggested tipping guidelines have been copied from their website, and posted on page 1, thread #8. This is for EVERY person in every stateroom, regardless of age, regardless of how often you eat in regular dining.

Some cruisers believe in giving cash to their respective individuals. Apparently, some cruise lines deduct a portion of the gratuities received - when posted to your room charge (I am told DCL does not deduct).

There are those who believe not leaving a tip on your room charge may be a sign to the cruise line, that you did not receive proper service. On the other hand, if you really enjoyed your service, others will also suggest leaving the suggested gratuity on room charge, and giving the server, host, assistant host (etc) an extra hand shake of cash on the last day of the cruise. I've done the latter (room charge with cash hand shake). I can tell you that your server will almost assuredly remember you the next time you cruise. Some of these people have amazing memories. Then again, some of it has to do with participating in normal conversation with your staff ... asking them about their family, home country, etc ... interacting with them as if they are a good friend. After a few days, you will believe you have know them for quite some time. Odds are, by the end of the cruise, you will want your picture taken with them, and may even exchange e-mail or facebook information. IF YOU LIKE YOUR STAFF, remember to keep the coupon (receipt) from your gratuity room charge, as it contains the full, and precise name of your staff (some cast mambers may use an Americanized version of their name in public). IF YOU LIKE YOUR STAFF, remember to mention them in the final survey, and don't forget to ask for your server or assistant server on a future cruise (when booking the reservation).

Steve, Please convey to your son Michael my husband Dennis and my thanks for his service.

After some thought, I switched us to the 12:30 parasailing time. I think the kids will want to play on the beach first thing. I tried for the 11:30 slot, but there was not space for all of us.

For me too, please! I Thank God for those who are willing to fight/stand up for MY freedoms :grouphug:

Found out I've got over 12hrs of OT this week :cool1::banana::woohoo: I only have 6 cruises on the books to pay for....even though I think it'll only be 4 getting confirmed :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

My info for lanyards is correct except for the room numbers. We switched to balcony GTYs, so we don't have cabin numbers yet.

There are lots of cat 5 and 6s still available. I think the balconies are a lot less populat on this cruise because it's a cool weather cruise.

Cougar :goodvibes JK - I hope.

I would have said handsome.

Thank you all for your comments! He is one terrific son! Is totally dedicated to protection along with being a Marine he is a volunteer firefighter and is attending night school to earn degree in criminal justice. We are very lucky to have him stationed close to home. :lovestruc Expecting another snow storm tonight into tomorrow... ugh! Mike will be spending night at firehouse in case of any calls. Thank you to all who serve our country and our communities!

...I loved seeing Minnie in her gold sequined dress. I felt like a 5 year-old seeing her for the first time when she came out wearing her gown. :lovestruc

...lunch with friends at Neiman Marcus ...

The pre-show interviews with the kids on the red-carpet produced a "feel-good" atmosphere for the Golden Mickeys.

I don't think I ever saw the whole Twice-Charmed; I think I started to one time and left half-way through.

...Lunch at Mariposa in the Honolulu Neiman Marcus was one of our delights; outside patio overlooking the Pacific, popovers on the bread plate....

....Mommy - can you use your connections :goodvibes and find out what movies are showing on the big screen for us?

-we were just talking about Mariposa in Honolulu NM.:goodvibes Strawberry butter and popovers are so yummy!

-I know there's a phone number somewhere that you can call to find out what movies are playing, but I need to call tomorrow about a few things (during EST -- missed the cutoff today) so I'll be sure to ask if they have any more info on anything new! ;)

I just talked with the Castaway Club line at DCL. Checking to see if they have any plans for dropping the price of GTY Cat 12s to the $699 pp they keep offering ($100 pp savings). She said she had heard nothing and then got the same story: <90 day $1200 penalty for changing. UGHH.

Bottom line, I dropped both my WB PC and Feb 2011 Dream cruises and gave the current situation as my reason. I want them to know that we are paying attention and that we are savvy shoppers (of a quality product), not just addicts.

It won't hurt to have that money in the bank for retirement, either. I'm not so fortunate as my dad who has a federal pension + SS + 401k. Spent a lot of time in Hawaii thinking about our generation who are probably going to be in for a rude awakening when they want to retire and don't have big nest eggs (I took a big hit in the last 401k drop - still kick myself for not sliding into a bond fund when the rates started falling!) Maybe I'll go back to work since I won't have all those cruises interfering with work schedules.

I think that was a great way to send the message, and you worded it perfectly. Would it really hurt them to adjust everyone's rates fairly? It would cost them $200 (100pp) to adjust your reservation, but now its costing them thousands in lost bookings with you. I have always said that DCL cuts off their nose to spite their face. I hope that they "get" this message soon, or alot of people will switch to other lower priced lines.

Went to buy travel insurance and realized I can't since I don't know what airline I'm fling on yet (but most likely American). Almost went ahead and did that, but didn't know how complicated it would be to correct. Since we just booked on 2/4 I have a little bit of time for the 'pre existing condition' window. Guess I'm just anxious. :goodvibes

I'm thinking DCL has sold a zillion Cat 12's and folks will get scattered all over the ship. Hope they notice we're 3 ladies and place us in at least a 10 for that split bath! :rotfl:Ah, there is always the lady's locker room shower, a spot often prefered by some.

....let's see...what else was I supposed to be checking on?.....
