Looks like slow night on the board, SOOOO

Question of the day:

How do you plan on spending our Seas days?

We will all do a lot of reading. My mom and I love to play Scrabble so we'll fit that in as well. Can't wait to see what Disney offers as entertainment during the day. Hopefully we can find something we haven't done before. We really like to take in a movie or two while onboard. We don't get to do that very often.

Leaving our DS(22) at home. We should hook them up since you do know there will be at least one party either at your house or at mine. :lmao: I am ok with this as long as the house is left in order. :goodvibes

And we are leaving
DS22, DS17, DD14, DS7 and DD4 at home alone:scared1:

Is it any wonder I want to go away for 2 weeks?:rotfl2:

They will spend their time spending all the money I leave them on food I never let them buy, and movies they will forget to return on time. Knowing their Grandmom or Aunt could stop in at any time should keep them out of anything to earth or house shattering, right?

However, If the grown married DS28 and DGS8 stop in all bets are off as to what may happen. :scared1:

Well my shopping for the week netted me a few things for the trip.

One pair of decent jeans for the DH who generally spends 6 days a week in a suit.

A few tops for me that can go in either warm or cool weather direction.

A windbreaker/rain type jacket for me who never wears a jacket ever. . .?

A 30inch rolling duffle I *think* I am happy with.

and a partridge in a pear tree, oh no!no!no! that's not right, there was no room for that! I picked up another pair of sunglasses instead.

I should go to bed now:upsidedow

Oh I hope that mine gets here quick too. I just want to cross that off my list. Then I have to get my mom to get her picture taken.....UGH! She is like having a third daughter sometimes!

Is there something you need at Walgreens? That's where I got my pic. Took about 10 minutes.

I want to do all of this, too. I have about 80 books on my Kindle. Most of them free. My problem is that when I take my book on deck, I end up people watching. Unless I go to deck 4-then I watch the ocean.

OK PM box is out of the red zone :thumbsup2

Is there interest in a 2nd Brunch group? I know of at least 1 couple. Anyone else wants to do a group brunch on a different day? I don't mind coordinating that group as well, but we need 12 - 14 people to get the private room.

PM me if you're interested (Kileybeth, I know you are...). If we have enough people, I'll get the specific infor from everyone and submit another request.

Adrienne, did you want to take over the teaching part of our knitting group? I'm fine either way, and it sounds like you are giving it some serious thought. I do have some book recommendations for those who want easy starter projects after the cruise. I can exchange info w/you offline about making up a reference list or something.

Love relaxing and reading on sea days. I expect movies will be part of my routine, too.

Dee sent you a PM about adding the three of us. I also have a couple of more pals on this cruise and I will PM them to see if they want to join us also. I love doing the private room for brunch and love meeting new DISers too!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

And so is Monica (Mishoe01). We booked this morning! Waiting to see if my SIL is joining us.

Just did a quick glance on page one. Do you still need bodies for a Palo brunch group? Give a should if you do (I'll also review activities and PM appropriate people as necessary).

Will catch up on the thread this weekend....just couldn't resist popping in on my lunch break.

Love the logo and door signs!

I am so excited! :cool1:

The Med excursions have blown any budget I could have imagined!!!

Drats... :headache:
I see that Jackie has spilled the beans & told you our news:rotfl:

I'm still a bit nervous about the seas (due to motion sickeness issues) but am really excited about this new adventure

Krisann - I'm assuming Jackie included me in the lanyard pm, right? Looking forward to seeing you and DH again.

Hi Woody! Hi Kathe! Hi Ginamarie (how's Salvatore?)! I think it's great to see some familiar faces :goodvibes

Need to start doing the research on the ports to see what I want to do.

BTW - Lynne....LOVE the website - You ROCK!:worship:

Hi Monica! I can't wait to meet you finally after all the help you were with my Baltic cruise! So happy that you and Jackie are back onboard....literally!:cheer2:

How do you plan on spending our Seas days?

Reading, reading, reading!
Also, taking advantage of all of the activities (ie. tastings =)
....and watching movies!

I never go to the movies---I've gone to the movie theater maybe 5 times since I had children. I miss seeing movies on the big screen! I hope they pull out their back log and show lots of them!

THE MOVIES!!! I LOVE watching movies in the Buena Vista Theater. Although I have to bring a blanket from my room because the air is arctic in there. But I cant wait to find out what is playing.

On another note, my youngest DD very first passport came in the mail yesterday.

Does anyone have a DD or DS between the ages of 17-22 that is sailing with us? My DD who will turn 19 a few days before we sail is looking to meet up with some others of the same age before we go.

My dd18, Kayti will be turning 19 in July. She would love to meet someone her age. I imagine there won't be too many in that age group on board.

My dd has facebook, you can PM me if you want her info :)

This cruise is my present to myself for my 65th birthday.

Remember to ask your dining room server for a Birthday Cake (can be for any day of the cruise). Just remember to ACT SURPRISED when they bring it out to you!

Parasailing at CC - anyone done this? Is it really really great? I am thinking of giving this to my hubby as a birthday gift (his birthday is on Friday before we board). Also is their a weight limit for this? I did not see anything on the description.

I believe the weight limit it posted within the excursion information. I did the Castaway Cay parasailing twice - loved it! Remember - Disney watches over everything. The staff from Abaco Island is very nice. They will not dunk you in the water - unless you ask to be dunked. It is not difficult at all to participate in this excursion, so even most mobility challenged should enjoy the event. If you can sit on your butt ... you can do this excursion. You are not YANKED into the air, and are not parachuted to the deck. Rather, you are winched out, and winched back in. It is a very soft landing. I am afraid of heights ... but this was not an issue for me. Technically, you do not have to hold onto anything while you are in the air, but I still felt it was the smart thing to do. The second time I went parasailing (12/09), I did not hold onto anything when i was in the air.

If you are going to do the parasailing, bring a digital camera, so someone can take pics of you as you are getting hooked up, being let out, and being brought back down (the staff does not have photo equipment on board). Have them take LOTS of pics. I brought my trusty 7 Mega-pixel portable camera. A waterproof covering / housing would be a plus, as you are in a moving boat, and there is the chance of waves and secondary splash. I would not suggest the use of an SLR, unless it absolutely has a waterproof housing.

... so you can mail postcards from CC. What's the attraction of doing that? Do they have a cute stamp-canceling thing? Do you use USA stamps? Thanks.
...Bahamian postage ... it was about 59 cents for a small postcard. Large postcards are more money (remember - cash only). The stamps are cancelled with ABACO ISLAND (Bahamas).

Trying to figure out if regular or late dining would be better for us. I have a 3 year-old who still naps in the later afternoon. Both kids get cranky when hungry (but there is always food available.). I'd like to take them to the shows at night and I am not sure of the timing of the shows and dinner and movies and such and how that all works together. Couple that with whatever happens with the time change enroute. :confused3

Kids can stay up late as far as I am concerned, since that gives some small chance that they will sleep past 7 a.m.

What are other families doing?
