4.1 Million-Prototype WDW Bus-Barrett Jackson Auction

Anyone watch the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Arizona the past week. The top seller was a bus from 1956. It was called the GM Futur-Rama Tourist Bus. It was a prototype that Walt used to design the busses that run for WDW World. The bus was silver/red and the design has not changed to much from what WDW uses today to transport their guest from park to park to resort.

The tour bus went for 4.1 million. When the bidding started the owner said he would be glad to get $600,000.00 He was mildly surprised.

The bidding was really fun to watch. It sat around $400,000, then went to $600,000. And all at once it jumped to $1,000,000 . Then it started going up by $500,000 increments. When it hit $3,500,000.00 mark, people started cheering and yelling and it jumped to $4,000,000.00 and the last bid came at 4.1 milion. They didn't show who won the bid, but our guess it came from over the phone or over the internet.

We spent almost all weekend watching that auction - and a lot of time a couple of weeks ago. It is so addicting to watch. I saw the bus but fell asleep before the bidding started on it. Holy Moley!

We watched all weekend also! It was amazing what some of those cars went for. I kept telling DH all we needed was one car to sell and we would be set!

We saw it also. I could not believe that it went for $4.1 millon. I thought that these were buses that toured the US and showed what GM tought the future was going to be like. I heard what the SPEEDTV announcers said about WDW and did not understand what they were talking about. They said that these were the type of buses that WDW used to take resort guests from their hotel to the parks. The only buses that WDW that look out of the ordinary are the ME buses. They really do have a look like the Future-rama bus had.

It was pretty neat to watch the bidding get that high. Ohhhhh, to be rich!!

We own a 1970 SS Chevelle. It is sitting in our garage. We used to own 2 1966 SS Chevelle's. We sold one about 10 years ago and paid for our garage. I can't remember what we sold the other one for but I think around $5,000. Those same cars were going for almost $250,000.

My husband kept saying: Who are these people with all that money.

my dh and i watched this all weekend too. we didnt go anywhere, just stayed home and watched the auction. One of the guys that goes every year and spends millions of dollars is the owner of the discovery channel. He bought that car made out of gold last year which went for over a million dollars.

I know, I have a 1970 Cuda in my garage about 1/2 restored. All I can say is

OMG, those Cuda's were going for a million too. My husband had one when we were Junior's. (We were h.s. sweethearts). His dad made him sell it because it was to fast of a car. He was screaming, everytime a Cuda got sold.
