The name's Andy. I'm 28. On May 28, 2007, I walked down Main Street, USA at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom for the very first time. We were with my DW's family as they were treating us as a college graduation gift for my DW. We stayed 4 days and it was off-property.
A few months later, my parents took us to WDW to spend the Thanksgiving holiday. We spent 3 days at WDW (1 @ Sea World) and, again, it was off-property.
Shortly after we returned, me and DW started talking about how nice it would be to go, on our own, and to stay on-site. We wanted to go all out, dining plan, multiple character meals, and one of the Disney Value Resorts. By February, we'd settled on our initial plans and we began making reservations.
Issue #1: How do we get to Orlando? We do live in North Alabama.
The first time we went, my DW's dad drove us there. We made a pit-stop in a small Florida town to visit friends, so it helped a little -- but it was still a very long trip.
The second time we went, I drove as my step-dad was post-op (knee) and couldn't drive very well. We tried to get it all in one trip, but we couldn't. However, on the the drive back, it was all in one day. It took from dawn 'till dusk.
So, we found some flights on Southwest for $79/person and took them right away. It was a no-brainer. A flight that doesn't even last 2 hours vs. a 14-18 hour drive?
Solution #1: Round-trip Flights w/ Southwest Airlines (Nashville to Orlando)
Up next, where will we sleep?
(Coming soon...)
