I am looking for a new television, and am wondering if the 3D feature is worth getting or not. For those of you who have a TV with 3D, do you like it? was it worth the extra money? Which TV brand and model do you have?

We just got this one last week (although it was $100 less). http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-E3D470V...?ie=UTF8&qid=1353984644&sr=8-7&keywords=vizio

Initially we saw it at Walmart but they were sold out. They had another on that was similar but without the 3D. Told my husband that 3D was no big deal to me. Turned out Walmart didn't have the non 3D model either so we just ordered the one we originally wanted from Amazon. We picked up a 3D blu-ray player on black friday and watched Pirates (On Stranger Tides) on 3D and wow! I am so glad we ended up getting 3D. We love it. The set came with 2 pairs of glasses but we had a couple of pairs from the theaters too. I am so glad we didn't pass it up.

I have had one for just over a year now. It is a Samsung (don't know the model, doesn't matter it isn't sold anymore). Also have a projector that does 3D. The TV uses the active glasses that need batteries and the projector uses the theater type glasses.

I have been watching a lot of 3DTV via 3net lately on the Samsung and have been watching tons of 3D Blu-rays on the projector.

Is it worth it? I think so. But I am now holding off on new TVs until the UHDTV/4ks come state side.

We have a Samsung 51" plasma with active 3D and a projector that doesn't do 3D. We never use the 3D (we did rent a few 3d movies at first but quickly got over it). Our tv just happened to have that feature and we didn't pay extra for it. I would not pay more for 3D on a tv or at the theater, but its on a lot of tvs now and I wouldn't avoid 3d tvs.

46" LED 3D TV, 7000L series. 3D worth it? i barely use it, when i do, if i look at it too long, it hurts my eyes... Love gaming with 3D sometimes...

So for me, i dont think its worth it. I do however enjoy the smart TV feature on the TV... got rid of my netflix/external box, one less power outlet...

We've had our Samsung Plasma 3D for a little more than a year. I LOVE IT!!! I had originally wanted one when they first came out, but they were too expensive then. Also there was not enough 3D content to justify the expense. When we bought ours last year, there were about 10-20 titles available in 3D, now that number is closer to 100. Over the year we've collected about 10 movies in 3D. It really does open up a whole new level to movie watching. I love the depth you get, and the pop outs are awesome too!! I would recommend the following movies for great depth and pop outs:

Madagascar 3
Journey to the Center of the Earth
Beauty and the Beast
Hugo

I can't recommend Avatar only because I haven't seen it yet. I hear it's beautiful though. Happy viewing!!

We got a Samsung 3D tv last year at this time. We were not looking for nor did we buy it for the 3D aspect. But, we do enjoy it quite a bit. We have a Family Video store in our neighborhood that rents the 3D movies, so it's not expensive or out of our way. We have bought some of our favorites on 3D, Polar Express is awesome in 3D. We bought The Avengers in 3D also. :thumbsup2

We have one that just uses the theatre type glasses. We love it and it seems like every other movie is being remade as 3d these days so I think there will be more and more movies to use it on.

We just bought a new tv for the bedroom last month. We went with the LG 47LM6400 3d LED for a $799 at Costco. It came with 6 pair of 3d glasses.

We actually didn't want 3d because we didn't want to pay extra for a feature we probably wouldn't use often. On our "must-have" list were Smart TV (with Wi-Fi), super duper thin (for weight purposes because we have lathe and plaster walls), and that's about it. Our tv is only 1.3" thick which is crazy. Anyway, I wouldn't pay extra just for 3d capability unless you absolutely LOVE 3d movies at the theater. For me, 3d is fun but not something you use every day. Our tv can convert anything in 2d to 3d so if you don't have a 3d blu-ray player it still makes things relatively 3d. I do like the 3d capability for animated movies and movies like Avatar. The glasses are really comfortable to wear.

You will probably find that almost all Smart TVs with Wi-Fi capability are also 3d. It is just the way technology is going. :)

Thank you for the advice. I think I've decided on a TV, but what about the 3D glasses? Should I get the same brand as the TV, or are they all basically the same?
