3D Crystal Portraits?

I was reading the newest Navigator’s on Dave’s Website at lunch today and noticed the following listed at Shutters:

“3D Crystal Portraits – exclusive to the Disney Magic, 5:30 – 8:30 pm, Deck 4 Midship, outside Studio Sea”

We were on the 2/28 Western and this wasn’t available then. Has anyone had this done and could they describe it for me? I’m wondering if it’s similar to the Crystal cubes available at Epcot “ImageWorks” with a digitized photo blasted into the crystal along with a 3D object??? We had one of these done of our DD last year with the Epcot globe and loved it! It would be really cool if something like this were available of the Magic.

That's what it sounds like to me the Crystal Magic cubes sold at DL and WDW (among many other places now). I'd be curious to know if this is really what it is.

YES and it is a lot cheaper than Epcot! We got one at Epcot of the 3 kids on NYE and it cost about $250. DH saw the cubes on DCL last week and was thrilled to see we could get a comparable size of the two of us for about $70! I saw several people each night purchasing these. They are really cool! So now I have one of the kids and one of DH and me.

You can take any picture , negative or Digital Media and bring them to your local Eckerds and have them done for as little as $29.95 to $49.95 depending on size.

Thanks for the replies! Robin - do the ones you bought have just the photos or do they also reference the Magic somehow?

I've just added these to my budget list for next summer!

not to be morbid, but we thought they looked like a ghost of the person floating in the crystal. Kind a creepy.

They say Disney cruise line with a logo at the bottom of the picture.
