We have a cruise tentatively booked for the month before my younger dd turns 3. Her older sister is 4. They would be happiest if they can go to the oceaneer lab or other kids club together. We booked this cruise while on our last cruise and booked as far into the future as possible, but younger dd will be a week shy of her 3Rd bday. When we were on our last cruise, they had recently started being very strict about no one under 3 going to oceaneers. Is this still the case? I hate to lose the great deal on our tentative cruise, but I'll have to cancel if our little one wouldnt be allowed to join big sister. If they would let us push our sail dates back a couple weeks, we would be good, but it doesn't sound like they'll do it. Thank you!

It's my understanding it is a strict rule regarding the age. The child must be 3 in order to be in the Lab/Club, other than during open house sessions, in which case you must accompany the child.

The last I heard, yes, they are pretty strict about "must be 3" to be in Oceaneer's. Time was, if they were within a month of turning 3 they would allow it, but I don't think that's the case any longer. You can take her in there during the Open House hours, though.

Our daughter turns 3 on disembarkation day and we've been told on the phone she will not be able to go to any of the kids clubs.

We recently cruised with our almost 3 yr old and he was not allowed in the Oceaneer Club. They go by birthdate. At least that was our experience. He was 6 weeks shy of 3.

There have been reports in the past of under 3 kids being allowed in the clubs, but more recent reports (and our own experience with a 34 month old) indicate that Disney have become more strict on the rule. One reason may be that the cruise fare for a child under 3 is lower than that for a 3-12 year old. There may be still be some exceptions, but I wouldn't assume that a child under 3 will be able to go to the clubs, except when there is open house or special toddler programs.

Also from what we saw I would not want my newly 3 in there. It's kind of wild with older kids running around.

I agree with this. It used to be not so bad when the Club and Lab were segregated by age, but now that they are all mixed together it can get a little wild in there.

Lol! I read it as 35 YEAR old! What the heck is a 35 month old? I thought at 12 mos people use years...
No, many use months until age 2, and sometime age 3. Since earlier than that age, they can change rapidly from month to month. After age 3, the growth relation slows a bit, and they start using years.

It was strictly enforced at 3 when we were on a few months ago.

I knew about the 2 years/24 months thing, but never heard people use it after 24 months. I figured they said 35 months to show how close she was to being 3.

They are showing that the child is very close to 3 years old but not quite there. They likely don't say it normally, but are using it here to be very specific.

Exactly.

DS, who is currently almost 147 months lol, says that he feels more in danger from the random little ones! They dart all over the place and can't be predicted! He has further to fall (as evidenced by his current broken arm sustained by slipping in his tap shoes and breaking his fall) and less padding than he did at 35 months. :) He loves little kids but they also scare him.

When my oldest daughter was just shy (3 weeks) of 3 and fully potty trained, Disney wouldn't let her into Aunties at the Aulani. I can't imagine it being different on the cruise ship.

Well, it did used to be different on the ship. Time was that a 2 year old within about a month of their birthday, and potty trained, was allowed. But no longer.
