.........................

definitely sufficent. i would rather save my money for other things such as going to wdw at least once a year. :D

If I can't have a mix -- sufficiant wins. Beofre I got married, I lived from month to month on my paycheck. It SUCKED! I like having money in the bank.
But I'd rather have a sufficiant house with NICE furniture. And a sufficiant NICE car. I wouldn't skimp on a CD player next time. But I'd still buy a used car. (Check out buying rental cars -- mine was only six month "used" when we got it!) And money in the bank. We have a lot of WalMart particle board furniture that doesn't match and generally looks awful. I want to replace everything, room by room, when we have the money. And if we're spending $$ on it, I want it to be nice! That's why it'll happen room by room, rather than ALL right way!
Oh, and I'm 23.

We definately prefer to live slightly below our means and save $$.

Sufficient has such a different meaning to each person. Our old house with a one car garage and no dishwasher was sufficient, but we chose to move to a nicer neighborhood to a newer house with a 2 car garage and a dishwasher. However, it is still a modest house well beneath our means.

I think this is a good question for me in my current life. I was one of those people who always wished I had what the Joneses have.
Now however Im finally turning around and being more thankful for what Ive got. Great way to look at things now that my pay may be cut again.

I am 23 and just graduated in May. I vote for sufficient with money in the bank. The only exception to that is my WDW vacations--seriously, they are my splurge that helps me make it through the rest of the year when I'm not there. I do hunt for WDW code rates and deals like crazy though. I try very hard to resist the urge to "keep up with the Joneses" like so many people my age. Just give me my TiVo (which I received as a gift and only costs me the $13.95 a month subscription fee) and my WDW trip and I'm allright. :)

Sufficient for us too.

We needed a new sofa so we opted for a $100 futon from Wal-Mart. There was no way we'd pay $600 for a sofa that our cat is just going to shred. Instead of buying a dresser for me from a furniture store, we went to Staples and bought a storage closet. I'll admit, I would like to get some real furniture some day. The college-student, plastic crate decor is getting a little old.

I did run up my credit card to about $2000 when I was a student, but I never just paid the minimum. When the low intro rate would go up, I would switch it to another one & not use the first one at all. I paid it off in about 3 years once I started working full-time. I still use it, but I always pay it off every month. Of course, I also have alot of student loans.

I do want to buy a condo, but I'm living with the embodiment of the inertia principle that a body at rest wants to stay at rest. ;)

My answer is sufficent funds too. Finding out as I get older and hopefully wiser that less...is more!
:D

C.Ann- Your coworker sounds like my cousin's daughter... stops and buys coffee and breakfast EVERY morning yet she lives with her parents along with her THREE children- DRIVES ME CRAZY.

A little off topic- yesterday between classes I was talking to another woman when she had to take a "cigarette break" when she came back I said, "How much does a pack of cigarettes cost now?" She told me and then said, "But my school and books are paid for by an agency- Actually I get $500 extra and that's my cigaretter $$" I was FLOORED. We got NADA financial aid when I decided to go to school.... but she gets cigarette $$.... what is wrong with this picture?
