31 days and holding?

How do they count the 31 days from check in? It seems pretty straight forward to me but then I wasn't sure if I count today and not day of check in or both today and day of check in or not today and day of check in. I am making myself crazy with this. If check in is August 24 how do you count the 31 days to avoid holding points?

If your reservation is listed under My Disney Experience, it will tell you how many days you are out from your trip.
