Don't answer the phone, don't answer the door, LOL.

If that's not possible (kids home answering phone, etc), I'd just tell her I'm sorry I can't talk right now and I'll call her later or if she's at the house, I'd tell her I'm sorry I can't sit and chat and if she stays, just continue on with what you were doing and let her talk to herself, LOL. I have had friends do that exact thing to me and it's VERY uncomfortable, I do feel for you.

I know what you mean....that is why I just love "caller ID". Don't have to talk to anyone I don't want to when I have things that I want to or need to get done. Hope it works out for you!

I always have my recorder and on and pick up only those calls I want. 6:30...isn't that the pitts! I used to work 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. so I could get a decent amount of stuff done in the evenings. It still didn't work. Sometimes I was still getting home at 5:30 if I had stops to make on the way before or after picking up DS. Good luck!

I once was visiting with an elderly neighbor. While we were chatting and having coffee, her phone rang. She just kept sitting with me and having coffee. Finally, I said "Do you want to answer that?"

Her reply was: "No. I had that phone put in for my convenience, and right now it is not convenient to answer it."

That has been my motto ever since.

I had a friend who lived in another state so we could only talk online or on the phone.
She never did her homework so she always had so much time on school nights..well I get about 4-5 hours of homework on a week night and about 10-12 on a weekend (and this is when I don't have papers or tests).
She couldn't call me because of the long distance but since i have national on my cell she expected me to call her every single night at exactly 9 and talk to her until about midnight. And i can't talk on the phone and do homework at the same time so when we would hang up at midnight, i would have to do homework.
Well I started getting really tired and not focusing as much on school work SO I started calling her less and less and coming up with excuses not to call. She flipped out so one day i decided that i wasn't gonna talk to her anymore...I blocked her on Instant messenger and stopped calling her or responding to her emails.
Long and the short of it, no you're not the only one that gets annoyed by this and there are just some people who need to have everything spelled out for them. Tell her you're working and busy but when you have some free time, maybe y'all can get together and catch up.

Marla Hellwig hit the nail on the head----I can get my laundry washed and folded, get the dishes in and out of the dishwasher , floor mopped and anything else I can do all while visiting. I have found using the Vac while visiting is just way to loud----I'm not being rude---because I love my friends but there are times I have to get chores done......Actually some of my friends have given me a helping hand.
