He knows what kind of juice we drink, what size and brand of cat food we use, and what we needed the supplies for. He just didn't pay attention to the prices.
But didn't you say he bought the wrong cat food? And maybe the juice (can't recall right now)? I mean...what happened, if he knew all this, including the budget?

TRUE
Yep some love to

the pot.
Alternatively, some of us feel one of two ways:
1. If you are going to be so strict about the money that goes out and the foods that come in, you MUST arm the proxy-shopper with a detailed list.
or
2. If the proxy shopper knows the brands, sizes, budget, and REASONS for the shopping trip, and comes home with wrong items, wrong sizes, and far too expensive items, maybe *something* is going on.
When DH and I were engaged, we had weird things happening that ultimately did show a problem in our relationship. For some other couple it might not have been a big deal; for us, it was. If I knew 100% that DH knew all of the things the OP says her husband knows, but he came home with completely wrong items, it would be a sign of problems for us. Maybe we were having problems again...maybe he wasn't listening (which is a problem for me that might be bigger for me than it is for others...just my thing, I like to be *heard*)...maybe he's distracted from junk at work and it's weighing on his mind and keeping his ears closed or his mind shut. All I know is that if something like that happened in my household, it would, indeed, mean something.
It has nothing to do with stirring any pot, but rather expressing our opinions.
