300 loop brush cleaning

I've noticed other loops that have had a lot of non native plants have been removed. The only time we have stayed at the fort we were in the 100 loop because our reserved site on another loop was still occupied past checkout and we they couldn't find the person. So how bad has the 100 through 300 loop been cleared out. I know it's important to get rid of the potato vine and other plants but the fort is starting to look like a lot of commercial campgrounds around the state. Of course they aren't as much fun.

We stayed in loop 300 last week of Jan. Been going to the Fort for past 7,8 years er so . Yes it does look commercial now,no privacy between the sites now,,but hey,,we are big on people watching anyway. Makes it easy to meet folk. Don't know if they will,but we were told Disney will be adding plants native to Florida which should help to fill in void areas in couple years.While we may not always care for some of what Disney does,most of the time Disney changes turn out well. 2GoofyCampers

We did notice during our last stay quite a few new plants in place already. It will take a while to reestablish the cover that was removed, but I think in the long run it is an improvement.

Just got back yesterday, stayed in 300 loop. It is very open now. You can see everyone around you, even over to the 200 loop. It looked a lot different from last year....I didn't like it...it was too open. I do hope they fill in the wide open spots now, it reminded me of a parking lot in some areas.

Don't worry folks, they're going to replant a lot of native species in place of what has been removed (in fact, they already have started to do it in some areas).

10 years from now the Fort will probably look similar to what you remember. This was a necessary step however, the entire ecosystem of the Fort was being overrun by the potato vines, and the hurricanes of a few years back had also done quite a bit of damage.

Instead of having a Fort with views of nothing but potato vines and dead pine trees falling over, Dinsey took a proactive step to correct the problem. In the short term, yes, the Fort is going to look different. However, long term, this will make future trips to the Fort much more enjoyable

P.S. After all the discussion on the removal of trees/shrubs/etc.., when I saw it for the first time, I really wasn't that phased by it. You get used to it pretty quickly, it's a little bit of a shock at first, but I really didn't think it was that drastic of a change. I felt like there were still plenty of trees, just a lot of the ground cover had been removed. That will all grow back quickly

We were just got back yesterday, and we have been going every month since August. I does look different then we are used to, but they had to do it for fire prevention and to keep all the trees from dying.
We spoke to the general manager when we got there on Fri. night. (there was an issue with our fire pit).
He confirmed all the renovations that will be going on. I had talked to someone at the Tampa Super Show about them. He said that more loops will have internet and cable, and that there is a rumor that it might be free.
The pool will be started this summer.
Some of the loops they can't do anything on because they are low lands and can't be done.

I hope they aren't planning to close the pool this summer...if that's when they are planning to work on it...whatever that means. Seems like it would be the worst time to do that. Especially since I'm supposed to visit then! Although, if they close the pool, I would assume they'd have to give you access to another...probably the WL. I can't imagine they could stop pool hopping if that were the case. Let's hope they don't decide to do work on the pool during the hottest time of year.

You're right..and it stinks I should re-phrase..it was dissapointing ...just my opinion. When we stayed in the cabins we weren't overly impressed with it. It was significantly smaller than the pool at the Meadow area, I can't imagine that small little pool would be the only pool available to FW guests when or if they ever(we've been hearing it for so long ) renovate the main pool. There are folks who are staying in the cabins paying deluxe rates and don't have access to a deluxe level swimming pool as it is..I can only imagine the dissapointment if the only pool available to FW guests during a renovation is the small unlifeguarded one in the cabin loops. Not going to be pretty. I hope they pick a time of year other than the summer, when perhaps there won't be as much of demand for pool use.

Agreed, I think the cabin pool might be the worst pool in all of Disney And considering what people pay for the cabins, it definitely is quite a shame.
