Is budgeting $300 for myself and DH reasonable for a Thursday afternoon to Sunday evening trip? Never been to Universal so not sure how their prices stack up. Assuming our breakfast is taken care of at our hotel Fri-Sunday. With all in park meals and snacks for the rest of the trip?
Also do they offer any large re-fillable mugs like Knotts Berry Farm? Or are they Disney stile with purchasing a new drink every meal.
What is their policy on bringing in food and drinks in park?

I think that budget is doable but it really depends on your style of dining - quick service vs table service? fast food vs finer dining? Also depends on whether you are including alcohol in that budget and how much?

I was also curious about your breakfast being covered comment - are you staying onsite at Universal?

I'd opt for free cups of ice water vs the refillable mug. That budget stresses me out some but it's doable. I just don't think I could put $$ into soda or flavored drinks. I'll save my drinking calories and money for Butterbeer. :)

My partner and I budgeted $50 for one meal per day, and $25 for two quick service meals per day, plus another $25 for snacks. That was ~$125 per day for meals, and then if we wanted to spend more, we took it from our souvenir budget.

I'm a really small woman (I'm 4' 9" and 82 lbs), so I don't eat very much, but my partner eats a lot. This worked well for us. We actually realized that we had overbudgeted, which meant we had more money for souvenirs. But I would suggest overbudgeting and then having extra money, not underbudgeting and not having enough.

We don't drink so $0 for alcohol. WE are staying at the Best Western for the breakfast.
Also What's Universal's policy for bringing in outside food? At Disneyland they said no outside food, but would always bring in a couple sandwiches, but they also wouldn't confiscate food.
