30 years? How is that possible? Recap last day at Disney (8/14)

You will love the KTTK tour. Jared was our tour guide in 2008 and he was awesome. He kept saying "the tunnels will be in the second half of the tour" Apparently they get that question a lot. We had lunch at Harbor House - the tuna sandwich there is amazing. I was by myself in the group so I sat at the guides table at lunchtime. Learned a lot of little extras that way.

First, let me apologize...I still haven't had a chance to read your report. I promise to get there soon (it was a rough weekend with my mom). I'm so glad so many people love the KTTK tour...it makes me feel good about my choice. Nickiland is ALWAYS fun.

I'm going to try to wrap this up as far as each day is concerned and then come back with a few thoughts here and there. I need to get back to the girls trip report and finish that off before I leave in a week.

Our first full day (Saturday, Augut 24) on Marco Island will be Nicki's and my shopping day. We will hit two malls and have lunch, as we always do, at Johnny Rockets. Of course, there will be several stops at Starbucks as well.

Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27 are up in the air. Nicki and Todd won't be joining us for dinner these two nights. We might take one of the days and go to Miami to visit the Seaquarium and the other day we might do the Naples Zoo and a dinner cruise on Marco Island.

Wednesday, August 28, we will be back here:



and we will be having dinner at the Pub. This is a new place that we tried with them during Mark's April business trip and it was really good.

Thursday, August 29, will probably be a pool and laundry day for me (although I probably will have done some laundry prior to that).



We will see if we have any visitors this trip:



Tonight we are having dinner at a new German restaurant that Todd and Nicki found recently.

Friday, August 30, we will either do the pool or the beach. We will be trying another new restaurant this trip called Steamers. It is a hole in the wall that includes fresh flown in seafood from New England every day. I'm told that they have the best clam chowder soup on the planet.

Saturday, August 31 is our depressing day. It is our last day on Marco before we head back to the real world.

We will hang at the pool for most of the day until we have our farewell dinner with sis and hubby here:

After dinner, we always end our last night at Starbucks for coffee and dessert. Nicki and I will then have our tearfest and we will go back to the condo to finish our packing.

Sunday, September 1, we will leave the condo around 6:30 a.m. and stop at Waffle House for breakfast. We will then drive to Orlando and return our car at the airport in time for our 2:00 p.m. flight home.

That was the other option I presented to Mark, and I was really surrpised he didn't pick it. I'm thinking maybe we can do that with the kids next year or we'll do it on our own the following year.

I think I've been to every single one of the restaurants Nikki is taking you too except Tommy Bahama. I like them all. Steamers is great! There is a new place next door called "The Local" that impressed me once.

This trip is going to be so much fun! I love all of your plans - the beach, good food, Starbucks (several trips)! It sounds heavenly I'm glad that everyone's comments have helped you to feel good about your choice of getting Mark the KTTK tour.

Sorry about the mom issues, Kathy. But, you are right, it is time to take care of you and Mark. Move to Florida now!! Just do it, you know you want to.

How exciting for KTTK tour! I can't wait to take the tour. We also want to do the AK Trek as well.

The outlet malls here are insane, aren't they? We've hit 2 of them in Orlando so far. And once was last Friday during the tax free. Gah! Cleaned up. I feel like I would always get jipped at most of the Chicagoland ones.

Yay for Nickiland! I know how much you cherish those trips. Some quality beach and bestie time are always good for the soul.
I really need to seek out the Tommy Bahama's in Orlando. Sounds right up my alley.

Sorry to hear about your mother's situation. Before you decide to have them move in you should check some social service agencies to see what options she has. If your relationship is strained it will not improve by living together. You and Mark are such a great couple and parents and that is where your priorities are. Plus I know you said you plan to move to FL in a couple of years and Andy might buy your house, so how would that work with your mother there? Do not feel guilty thinking of yourselves, I know you are not a selfish person.
