I just started watching 30 Rock, seems pretty funny. Could someone give a brief background. The company that Tina Fey & Alec Baldwin works for makes movies/tv shows & something to do with microwave ovens?

Is Alec Tina's boss or are the on the same level? Rip Torn is Alec's boss, but I assume he's not on every week? I've only seen last night's episode (4/12) & fell asleep on last week's fireworks show.

They all work at NBC, which is owned by GE. One of the jokes is that network VP Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin's character) is in charge of the NBC entertainment division, and, until last night, was in charge of the microwave oven division. It's a rip on GE.

Also, Tina Fey's Liz Lemon is Head writer of the fictional The Girlie Show (TGS with Tracy Jordan). It's a parody of what she used to do on SNL. Donaghy is her boss.

The entire show is genius!!

I believe he's only been married only once to his ex-wife Bianca (brilliantly played by Isabella Rosalini). He has, however, made mentions of dating Ann Coulter, Maureen Dowd and Condi Rice.
