Well, maybe.

I got my Envie magazine today, and had read another post this morning about the 30% discounted rates with a Dream AP at onsite hotels.

My next trip dates are within the time period stated in the magazine for the 30% discount, and today is the 90th day before my next trip, so the first day I could book my room with my Dream AP.

I've just spent 20 minutes on the phone, and I'm a bit deflated to be honest. I haven't booked anything, and the only hotel available with the 30% discount (or so I'm told this evening) is the New York.
Nothing for any of the other 4 lower star hotels, and when pushed, I finally (but it was like extracting teeth) got 10% discount prices for the Santa Fe and the Cheyenne. Having had a bit of a moan at the CM (but in a calm and collected way) about the 90-day policy seeming to deter rather than encourage AP holder room bookings (ie regular return visitors) she suggested I call again tomorrow morning, as maybe the 30% discount will have opened up for my arrival dates by then :scared: . How exactly thats likely to happen I still have no clue, and the CM didn't have much of one either - but I'll give it a go.

Thanks for letting me rant guys,

Elaine

Unfortunately AFAI understand it has always been the case that the 30% is only off certain hotels at certain times. Reading the Email which we've received about this it states in a Disney Hotel but doesnt specify which one or that its in all/any. Although in the small print it does mention a variety of types of room it is avaialable on but I suppose they coudl argue that for your dates it is available in New York but in other hotels for other dates.

Sorry I know this doesnt really help you and I fully agree with what you say about only being able to book 90 days before now with AP discount. It seems as though they are trying to stop repeat visitors.

We booked last November to stay in S Lodge later this month and cant remember what discount we got but it was a reasonable amount- I'll try and work it out later.

When I phoned yesterday to book mine, I asked about the discount & the CM told me that he didn't know if there was a discount or not, but if I was entitled to one, it was all set by the computer & that was the price that the computer was coming up with. So I don't know if I got the discount or not, but if I tell myself that I did, then I don't feel so guilty about spending the money!

Last week I booked the Cheyenne for the first week of August at the larger discount rate.....

I just wish they'd hurry up and release details of discount beyond October!.

I phoned last weekend and enquired about Christmas, while I wasn't able to book (being outside the 90 day period), the CM was able to give me the discounted price so that I could continue with my planning.

I asked why they had introduced this policy, and she thought it was so as to be in line with the other parks.

Are you sure they didn't just give you the 'standard' AP 10% discount - I only ask because when I attempted to get pricing - the only AP pricing available was equal to the price given for a shareholder discount.

Well, I did ask if it was the discounted price, and she said it was... But since these discounts seem to vary so much it's impossible to tell for sure :confused3

It would make sense however if they are trying to align with DL and WDW AP practices.

Annette, I assume that you spoke with the FL call centre, and not someone in Europe? (I ask because the FL agents also do WDW calls)

I had a similar problem when booking today, i spoke to a very unhelp CM who told me there was no availability in the lower hotels - wanted SL. Told me there was nothing she could do to help and couldnt wait to get me off the phone! phoned straight back and spoke to a helpful CM and ther was availabilty in SL but only at 10% disc rate making the price £378 RO in SL, he then said he would check something for me and i have just booked the hotel New york for less than SL for the same dates with the 30% Disc so for £351 we get 2 nights at the hotel new york!!! i am sooooo excited! i would say if the cm isnt helpful then ring back and keep trying until you get one that is doing the job becase they love sending people back to disney!

Thanks everyone, I have rung back, and booked the Santa Fe with the 10% discount.

Second CM was very helpful, was on the phone for 30 minutes with him while he checked, rechecked, did all sorts of combinations etc, but couldn't come up with anything with 30% discount unless it was the New York. Don't get me wrong, the 30% discount price for the New York was a very good price, but still about double the price I was looking to pay. He told me there had been 30% rate rooms for the Santa Fe, Cheyenne, SL, and NPBC, for the dates I wanted, but they had already all been booked. I don't know how, considering I'm going 6th October, and the earliest an Ap holder could have booked that arrival date at the 30% discount rate was 9th July (ie 90 days before, the day I phoned in the first place :confused3 ).

So I've emailed DLRP to query this.

They technically only have to have 1 room available with the discount in each of the hotels to meet the terms of the promotion. This may have been the case:confused3
