I have always stayed at Shades of Green in the past (prior to FP+) but am considering a Disney resort this January for the 60 day FP+. How much of a difference is it with availability between making the FP+ reservations with 30 days vs 60 days? Is the 60 day a huge advantage?

For a very few attractions, 60 days is a big advantage. Otherwise, no.

We stay one night at a true Disney resort, then the rest of our stay is at Shades of Green. This allows 60 day FP for your whole trip.

But I think 60 would be advantageous only for 7DMT, A&E, TSMM - these are the hardest to get. Even at 60 days, some people report not being able to get FP for 7DMT and A&E, so it's a toss up.

That is a great idea! How do you get your tickets? I understand that SOG will mail them out, but not until 3 weeks before your arrival?

I just received the tickets in the mail Friday from SOG - our trip is in Dec. We had to send in copies of military ID. The tickets were mailed out about a week after we paid/submitted ID's. If you booked late and they do not have time to mail the tickets, they will send you the information on the ticket so you can link to MDE and do FP's - then you will pick up at SOG, but if you have a magic band - it is not needed. (We got a magic band because we stayed that first night at a true Disney resort).

I thought SOG was considered a Disney resort, with all the percs? Aren't you able to make FP at 60 days?

Nope. SOG is still at 30 days. I'm not sure why Swan and Dolphin got the 60 days but SOG hasn't.

SOG - you will get FP at 30 days, but can participate in Extra Magic Hours, you can take advantage of package delivery, but cannot park for free across Disney property. It has its pro's and con's. But for the price per night and the size of the room, plus the location - it really is an amazing value.

Hi Annie,

I took your advice and booked one night at All-Star Movies and the rest at SOG. This morning I can make Fastpass+ reservations for January 24, but nothing beyond that. Will I be able to see the 25th tomorrow (and so on) or will I have to wait 30 days out for the rest of the trip?

That's strange because you shouldn't be able to make FP reservations for the January 24 since that's 61 days from today, not 60.

It is a rolling 60 days, one day will open up each night. I stayed up until 11 (I am central time zone) for 5 days in a row to make Fastpass+ selections.

Your 60 days will count back from check in at SOG, you will have a gap in days that your FP open because your 1 night stay at ASM gives you two days of FP+ selection. I hope this makes sense.

Since when, or does Shades of Green work differently?

I'm not sure "since" when, but I just did it. When you stay a night on Disney property, you get FP+ selection at 60 days. I booked 1 night at an official Disney property (POFQ) then the rest of my stay is SOG. I was able to book FP+ for SOG, on a rolling 60 day basis. Meaning every night, FP+ opened up for 1 day. Another the next night.

It's not the first time I've seen them open a day early. I think it happens when there is a month with 31 days in the mix
