When I purchased our tickets Friday afternoon, I had an opportunity to talk at length with Rosa. She explained that the owner had decided to close the 'travel & ticket' portion of his business and concentrate on the 'insurance' side. She will be staying with the company for a while (at least until after her baby is born in November). I know that she told me at least twice during our conversation that Disney was discontinuing this particular promotion. HOWEVER, it is :PARAMOUNT that was no longer selling them as of last Friday. They had to place final orders and return any other ticket types they were holding by the end of that day.

So, Disney may well be continuing to sell them, but who know for how long or at what price? Perhaps they will be coming out with something better in place of it - something that might actually include people who live in the USA?

Also, I bought 4 sets of FITS and might only need two. The others are for the couple joining us there but they are on vacation and cannot confirm. Since their trip to WDW is only for 6 days, they may want to go another direction. I would then have TWO FITS available for sale if someone needs them.

REMEMBER: They do expire after April 29, 2005. I should be getting the vouchers sometime this week and they DO NOT HAVE NAMES on them so could be transferred.

If anyone is interested, send me a Private Message and I will let you know if they become available.

Meanwhile, if anyone else hears about another promo - or know how much the WDW cost is for FITS, please let us know. :hyper2

I'm glad to see that there is another outlet for buying these passes. Hopefully they will not be discontinued, and if they are I'm hoping they are replaced with something comparable. We will be heading down next Spring and I would like to get these for our trip. I would buy them now but mom and dad are treating and there are 2 in our family that as of yet will not commit to going.

If the FITS passes are discontinued we will need to take the AP route. $100+ per person x 9 :earseek: My husband and I will be getting PAPs as we will be going back in October, however the rest of the family is staying home!! :jumping1:

Please keep posting any new information you hear.

today, from Discount Orlando. (Sept27)...and I've just now seen this thread.
I felt kind of bad that we hadn't ordered them from Rosa, but when I checked the paramount website this weekend, it was unavailable. I just assumed that it was hurricane related.

After speaking with Jeff, we decided to go ahead and get our passes with them.

He was great, and our passes will be shipped next Monday:)

I think that the loss of Paramount will be Discount Orlando's gain.

It seems that even when planning a Disney trip, when one door is closed, a window is opened. :)

Magic happens:)!!LOL!! Got to be why the saying is: Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust!!:)

I'm glad I waited and didn't tell my mom that the tickets were no longer available! :faint:

 We'll just pretend this didn't happen.

Has anyone ask Discount Orlando Vacations whether the FITS passes will be available next year. We are going in June of 2005 and since we are staying 2 weeks this looked like the best option. I am really hoping that they will be offered since we love DisneyQuest. Thanks for any info.

Howdy everyone,

JUst quick update about my worries. I spoke to Rosa today and she said my tickets would be shipping on Wednesday.

Now my only worry is that I will have trouble exchanging the vouchers at Disney.

Can you tell I worry alot about silly stuff.

Thanks,
Frank

Frank - I am sure everything will be fine. Just allow enough time to go to Customer Service at whichever park you attend first. I am not sure just how long it does take, but let me know when you get back.

From what I have read/heard almost no one has had trouble getting the vouchers exchanged for passes. One person said the cast member was a little terse and said that these were supposed to be for overseas visitors, but they did honor the vouchers. Maybe you could work on your British accent over the next week or two? :hyper:

Relax and enjoy thinking about the wonderful time you are going to have in 17 days!!!

Thanks for all of the reassurence. I am a very crazy planner and I want everything to go smooth when I get down there. I'm sure it will be find. I plan to exchange them at DTD my first day since we are getting in a little late in the afternoon after diving straight from New Jesey the night before.

Thanks again,
Frank

Wow, this thread almost gave me a heart attack! I had spoken to Rosa last month, but had not yet ordered our FITS passes for our December trip, when I just today saw the last day to order them was September 24th I almost flipped! Can't tell you how relieved I was to see I could still get them through Discount Orlando Vacations, but I feel bad I didn't order them in time from Rosa. She was so nice when I talked to her.

I'm a crazy planner too Frank, I hope everything goes as smooth with Discount Orlando Vacations as everyone always said it did with Paramount.

Is there anything different about ordering from Discount Orlando? How long do the tickets take to arrive...are they the same tickets? Do I have to do anything different ordering from them?

Lisa :earsboy:

We used the FITS passes in August and had no problems exchanging the voucher, it couldn't have been more easy. It is a great pass, if it gets discontinued I guess I will go back to the AP.

Frank - Wanted to let you know that I got an email yesterday from gopitravel letting me know my order had been processed and shipped, also providing a tracking number. I ordered mine at about 3pm Florida time on Friday, 9/24/04.

You should also have received one by now. If not, again, the summary of whichever credit card you used to make sure the FITS was charged. If not, you should call right away and order from Discount Orlando. That would mean your order did not get processed.

I say this because mine was one of the last orders taken. Rosa said she would not be able to take OR PLACE any further orders after 9/24.

Hopefully all is well and you will have your FITS. I, too, am a rabid planner. But, no matter how much I want everything to go smoothly, life has hickups. I try to BREATHE and enjoy. To me the planning is at least half the fun, but not to those with whom I travel. They base their fun quota on how I respond to the trip. If I fret over every detail that wasn't 'quite right' then that takes away some of thier joy.

This is family fun at the greatest vacation place you can go to spend time with your family! RELAX, ENJOY, and tell Minnie hi for me...I'll see her in February!

I did get the e-mail and I tracked it and my tickets should delivery tomorrow 10/1. WOOHOO.

Thanks for hanging in there with me 2ofUs it really helped.

Disboards Rock!

Thanks again,
Frank

talk about your thrill rides - this thread stopped my heart in a much more terrifying way! at least it's kind of ending on a high--but we don't really know what's coming around the next corner!

can anyone post more feedback on the reliability of Discount Orlando Vacation? is everyone comfortable with them? are there any bad stories?

also, can someone with an earlier post edit it to add a line that says "keep reading, it all works out in the end" so more people don't go into shock....

Actually, I would not advise doing that since at this point we are not sure if FITS will be available after next spring. Rosa at the PIT said that they would not - that this was Disney's decision.

But only time will tell...

And about Discount Orlando Vacations, I have not read anything negative about them. If you do a search on this board, you will find a number of posts recently that talk about this vendor.

:)

Can someone tell me, does the April 29th, 2005 expiration date refer to the date that they need to be activated by?

We will be checking in early afternoon of the 28th of April and I would like to get these passes, however I don't want to take any chances. I was under the impression that as long as they are activated by the 29th they are good for 30 days. I'm torn between getting the passes (there are 11-12 of us), waiting for passes with a later expiration date, and waiting to see if Disney will discontinue these and offer something new. :scared:

Duet - I would think that it is the voucher that expires April 29, and the you are correctly in assuming they are good if ACTIVATED on or before that date. It might be prudent to call Discount Orlando and ask them how their expiration dates work. Also, I would think someone at WDW Customer Service would be able to answer that as well.

My vouchers are scheduled to arrive today. If I am able to disern anything from them (or if there is any WDW phone number on them) I will post later today.
