Hey everyone - Im getting pretty excited as it only a few weeks till we leave for our 3 week trip to WDW!

Ive just bought (used) the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 as I found the nifty fifty just wasnt QUITE fast enough when I was there before. Lots of you recommended this too me so Im really excited to get one and try it out.

I have not been very active in my photography this year so Im actually feeling a bit nervous about it! I had a list of shots I want to get (and we are taking my mother for baby sitting duties so Im allowed a couple of nights out for "photos only" without the kids :thumbsup2 ).

Here are some shots I want to get:

Fireworks from the Ferry Dock at the TTC.

Night shots / long exposures of Tomorrowland, Christmas Castle, World Showcase and Animal Kingdom.

Long exposure of - MK Carousel & teacups

Some DECENT spectro / Christmas parade photos.

Nice candids of the kids.

Im taking my Canon 30D, 17-85IS for general use, 70-300IS for animal portraits / detailing, Sigma 30mm f/1.4 & Canon 50mm f/1.8 for low light work.

Im also taking a beanbag, 4 CF cards (2gb, 4gb, 2x8gb 16gb), lightweight Manfrotto tripod, remote shutter release, giga vu storage device and plenty of tips Ive printed out from here!!

Anything Ive forgotten or any shots you think I can add to my list of possibles?

An excited, but nervous

Allie :santa:

Have fun! With 3 weeks I imagine you'll have plenty of time to get all the shots you want!:goodvibes

But what's a beanbag? I've done a lot of reading up on DSLR's since I got mine last month, but I don't think I've come across a beanbag yet.:confused3
We were down there last week and it was great!

A beanbag is just what it sounds like...literally a bean bag, you know...the kind you might throw at a stack of tin cans at the carnival or something? :goodvibes Because the bean bags are nice and squishy, you can prop your camera up on it to get your horizons straightened out if you are shooting on top of something that isn't level....like a trashcan that is tilted to the left or right. You can also use it to angle your camera up a bit if you don't have a tripod and you can't hand-hold it, like for fireworks.

Thanks! That would've come in handy the other night. I was taking pics of the castle from the side where it's reflected in the water and I rested the camera on the bridge railing since it was dark, and now I've got a lot of pics of the castle all on a slant!:goodvibes I know there are programs that can even them up, I just have to find out which one to use.

3 WEEKS AT DISNEY!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

PLEASE TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!! :worship:

Have fun and can not wait to see some pictures

Thanks guys.

The bean bag was a great buy - Im in England but Im sure these bags would ship cheaply to the US as they as light as a feather!

They cost £9 GBP which is around $15. Im not sure if Im allowed to link to the website but if you do a google search for camerabeanbags they will show up! Im really pleased with it and think it will be great for WDW on days I dont want to bring the tripod in!

Looking forward to seeing your pictures! (I recal last time they were gorgeous.) Have a great trip! :wizard:

PS thanks for mentioning the Giga Vu. I always forget about beanbags. Do you think it's preferable to a gorillapod?

Just curious, what type of camera bag are you bringing?

Thank you!

Yes, I couldnt get on with the Gorilla Pod to be honest - there simply isnt enough suitable stuff for it to grip to, whereas I used trashcans a lot last trip, so I figured a beanbag might be more useful!

Regards to bags - Im taking a Tamrac Expedition 4 to take all my kit from England, but in the parks I use a Tamrac Velocity 9 which is just big enough for my camera body and two lenses - three at a push (I rarely take more than two out at a time so it works out well!).
